So, instead we're going to sue 'em. Makes sense. That'll help 'em heal.

They are seeking to block lawsuits against themselves, not obtain money from the victims.
I get that and I am not saying I am sold 100% that MGM is completely liable. But the argument can be made that they are liable to a point. If this was just some random building and he got that arsenal to his 2 rooms and had all set up including installing cameras watching the hall, yeah I could find it hard to blame the building owner. But this was in a casino which by their nature are some of the most secure and monitored buildings on the planet.
This is what I find completely insulting a big frick you to the victims.

I get that they are getting out ahead of the lawsuits. But I bet that statement will be held against them and come back to bite them. Even if it is true, it wasn't smart to say that.

Maybe, maybe not. But they have a passel of expensive attorneys with years of experience in such things who think you're wrong, so I'm inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt.

The high dollar ambulance chasers are on the other side. What will likely end up happening is MGM will settle to make it go away.

Maybe they can use the money to install cameras in their billion dollar casino
cameras? how about some security.
that crazy jewish chick, laura loomer went trough secured areas w/o being asked for ID, got in that same service elevator, and went up to many floors and not 1 person ever came and asked her what she was doing.
She had the run of a secured area.

I don’t thin that’s unreasonable, necessarily. It’s not MGM’s fault some lunatic decided to go postal. If they could have prevented it I have no doubt they would have.

It’s secure where the money is. The floor, the vault, etc. The hotel is just that, a hotel. They are not obligated to search every piece of luggage and they shouldn’t be allowed to. Besides, it’s very east to breakdown a weapon and put it in a piece of ordinary luggage. Unless he was toting rifle bags and hard cases with a Magpul logo on it or something, no one would ever know.

Are they at fault? If not, isn't this just protecting themselves from frivolous lawsuits?

Reprehensible, but smart legally
Maybe not so smart economically.
There are a shite-ton of other casinos to lose your money to literally next door and across/down the street.
Casinos that haven't done anything reprehensible.

I agree the casino is not liable unless a employee of the casino knowingly assisted in some capacity. Outside of making a casino like an airport, there is no way that they could have stopped this.
