Damn man I admire your persistence with staying with it. I would’ve thrown in the towel after the AFib

Officially signed up for the prarie fire half in Wichita may 7th. This’ll be my first race longer than 10k. Training was a bit all over the place the last few weeks due to a small injury and getting sick but have gotten back into a normal routine. I’ve set a hard goal of maintaining sub 6 pace and a soft goal of sub 1:16 if I can hit a good enough ramp up on intensity these next few weeks. Gonna put down 12 tomorrow which will put me at 50 for the week.

Monday: off
Tuesday: 10 minute warmup
8 x 3 minute efforts, 1 min walk 2 min jog between each. Kept between 5:30-5:50 pace for each effort
5 min cooldown (8 miles total)
Wednesday: 6 miles recovery
Thursday: 10 mile moderate long run (about 7:15 pace average with some harder efforts toward the end)
Friday: mile warmup
3 x 2 mile tempo builds w/ 4 minute jog recovery. Maintained at least 6:20 effort the whole way through with the last one right under 12:00.
Mile cool down (8 mile (plus change with the jog recovery) total)
Saturday: 6 recovery
Sunday: 12 miles (hope is to be sub 7 average with trying to test the last 3-4 miles but we’ll see how my legs are feeling)

Thats what the ER doctors wanted me to do. Said it was to dangerous to get into long distance running again. At this point for my mental well being I have to get back to it lol.

Also, the cardio doctors staff told me there was no way he could see me before surgery and I would have to push it back. I was like oh hell no! Maybe a dick move, but I sent him a PM on FB asking to see someone else in his practice. Got a call about a hour later to see if I could come in today.
