Six miles in 50:23 today. 8:24/mile pace, which beat last week's 8:26/mile pace I did miss a three-mile run this week because I had the bubble guts, but oh well.
I am Mr. Feels Goodman right now.
Next week's schedule:
Monday - 4 miles
Tuesday - 2 miles
Wednesday - 3 miles
Saturday - 7 miles
Half marathon is in 49 days!
Now it's time to get a haircut, go get my tuxedo pants taken in (I was pudgy when I bought it), and get to drinkin' ice cold beer.

Honestly, one of the best things for me from the sidelines is watching you all run at a high level recently and knock out milestone after milestone.
I thought it would be hard, but it is the opposite...happy for you all but eager to get jump in and share some TD.com success.

Sheeeeiiiitttt I don’t know about that. I’m just glad to be able to run outdoors, glad I feel healthy again, glad people keep telling me I’ve lost weight, glad I can tell my heartbeat has slowed down, etc. #thankfulaf

Ran in my first run group today. There’s a serious group with a bunch of requirements that looked like something Burt would derive. Or, there was a group with 9-12 minute pacing and pick your group.......
I decided to be the fastest of the slowest! This was a lot of fun. 9/min pacing over 7 miles. 2 water stops (pause). Free coffee, free food, and door prizes afterwards. I met a bunch of new people. This is what running should be. Looking forward to more group stuff.

Realized my new running vest wasn’t sitting right about halfway through my run today
I didn’t stop to fix it for reasons that now escape me, and it looks and feels like I got strangled (or what I imagine post-strangulation to feel like) where it chafed along my neck

Richmond VA had a number of these groups on different days and times. They were great. One of them always had a SAG for the whole group. Some people ran 8-12 miles at a sub 8 pace, some ran 6 miles at a 12 pace. It's one of the things I really miss since moving away.

I threw my tux on late last year for a wedding after not having it altered since my wedding. It was nice that the pants were too big and the jacket was a little tight across the chest and shoulders.

Added 7 miles of paddling afterwards with the wife on the river. She wanted to go fishing this weekend. Beer and burgers afterwards. Not doing shite tomorrow!

Trying to find a training angle right now. I don’t have any races planned but thinking about a local half in March.
Last two weeks have been lower but faster mileage on my long runs. I’m looking at focusing more on speed but need to find a good way to balance the distance I want with getting faster.

Well, whether it's a good idea or not, to help with not having a real plan for the next few months, I've decided to start a running streak. At least one mile a day, every day, whether outside or dreadmill. Five days in, so here we go.

There are a few guys on here that have been doing this running thing a while. They’ll probably chime in. Look online for good training programs, too. There is a wealth of information out there.
I have meager running knowledge, but if you’re just starting to get serious, a half in mid March may be a stretch. You don’t want to burn out or overtrain just to meet a possibly unrealistic deadline you set for yourself and then get discouraged when you don’t meet it.
In any event, running is certainly good for the mind and body (in my experience) and once you get into it, it takes minimal effort to keep going. A body in motion generally tends to stay in motion.

I agree with DSJ. 8 weeks isn't enough time to train well for a half, even if you are an experienced runner. I would target a May half and race a 5K and or 10K in march/April as part of your training for that if that is the distance you want to race.

Not sure if your location but there are tons of 5Ks and 10Ks across the South in March - May.
