Y'all are crazy with the elevation. The only elevation I get is that shite arse little bridge right at the end of the Crescent City Classic every year

There is something to be said about how strong hills can make you running wise... but in my case it's because I live in North Alabama and have 2 little kids, so all of my races are closer by and because of that... hilly. By running hills it trains me for hills.
I think another piece of it could be if you don't lift, hills can easily give you the same "dead leg" feeling that leg day can, so in turn you are doing leg day and getting a run in at the same time

Dude if you’re taking n 130g of carbs which is 500 calories an hour you’re asking for stomach issues especially if it warm outside
General rule of thumb is 10O cal per mile burn rate so at 8 miles per hour you’re barely using anything already stored before taking in another 500 calories and hoping your stomach processes it. You typically have 1000 cal of glycogen when you wake up ready to burn and then add in your pre run fuel. Unless this is tried and true I’d say it will lead you to vomiting

Should have been 80g, I do a Maurten Gel 160 every 30 minutes.
I think I got sodium mixed up in the calculation somehow. I do a salt stick pill every hour and a half on top of the Maurten.
(I do the 160 Maurten because I weigh 180 pounds and my PT told me the 100 isn't enough at Marathon effort)
ETA: I tried the 100s at my last marathon and crashed pretty hard on mile 22 (like 1:10 slower than average pace) - so this marathon is more or less a "figure it out this time because next year things get super serious. (Next year I'm thinking about pushing myself for a BQ - 3:10ish for my age group)

And it wasn’t really physically challenging. That’s what was most surprising. My heart rate was still in the 160’s- 170’s but I felt good.
I think I’ll do that pace/HR level a couple more times and then push myself further/faster.

Sounds like a good plan. I think you’re setting yourself up to have a strong last 5k at ccc as long as you have a smart start.

I signed up for the Nashville St. Jude Rock and Roll half also. I’m hoping to PR there.

Thanks dude. Giving me a little confidence for CCC at the end of the month. Hopefully get some good weather for that

Crushed it! Good stuff!
Another 9 miler this morning finishes my week. I'll do the St. Patrick's Day race in Metairie next week then that's it for my racing until the fall. Baby should be here soon so no CCC

Sounds like a good H&F Board weekend.
Hit a new 10K PR this AM. Got my pace down to 7:43. Love to get it down to 7:30. Course was a little hilly……
