New PR in the Vulcan 10K this morning: 8:19/mile for a 53:01 finish. fricking IT Band is preventing my life goal of sub-8 min miles in the 10K. It doesn’t really hurt, but gets achey and stiff about mile four and really slows me down.

Ever since I switched shoes to Brooks, I've had some weird soreness in my right foot/ankle. Probably tendinitis.
Probably just coincidence, but I don't think I'll be going back to Brooks.

6 miles @ a 8:28 pace tonight. Felt great. Hip not bothering me at all. Way faster than I had anticipated. Ate pizza. Drank beer.

I haven’t ran in 10+ years and have decided to start again. I’ve never ran as far as a half marathon (use to keep it around 5 miles), but plan to in May so today is day one. I’m putting it in writing to hold myself accountable. I am looking for advice from seasoned runners on a great watch for tracking runs. I would like something that won’t require a monthly subscription and is easy to use. Thanks for any advice.

Ran first trail race of the year. 25k with about 1,600 feet of elevation gain. Came in at 2:55. Very pumped. I'm not the fastest runner, so a sub-3 hour time for me is fantastic.
I also found out Garmin has a "Frosty" badge if you do an activity in freezing weather.

Had a race in March already canceled.
That fact that races involving less than 200 participants are being canceled is ridiculous.

welp, my forerunner 945 battery is dying. garmin is sending me a replacement, but it's disconcerting. had the watch just over a year. have a 7 week window to get ready for a 50 miler in march, so the new watch is certainly gonna be put through the paces.

With the obvious heat/humidity beginning for those in the South, what are your plans for the upcoming months that will keep you "in shape" for when true training for full marathons start back up?

Hola! Just started running. For no real reason other than lose some weight and be a partner with my wife to get her moving as well.
I’m a couple weeks in. Using Runkeeper. Today’s run/walk was 3.75 miles with a 12:04 a mile/min. It’s my best time. I’m still trying to breathe correctly. It’s my best time so far though. I’m slowly noticing a different in how far I can run without stopping each time I go out.
Any suggestions for a better experience?

Thinking about taking the plunge and signing up for my first marathon in December

Ok just bit the bullet... just booked Hilo, HI 26.2 for 3/2022. Ran my first marathon in March in BR. This one hits home since i graduated from UH Hilo in 2003. Scared to death but 10 months to prep. Super stoked!

Any advice for avoiding foot blisters? Had an 8 mile run last night and developed a blister the size of a silver dollar on the inside of my left foot under my big toe

For the first time on my Garmin Coach app, the confidence level that I will be able to beat my half marathon goal of 1:44:00 (8 minute per mile pace) has moved to "Extremely Confident", and it gave me a message saying that perhaps I should go for a more challenging goal.
I have yet to fail any of the workouts yet... I had no trouble this morning on the progression run which had a 20 minute run pace of 9:00 then 15 minutes at a 6:55 pace.
I also destroyed the goal pace run earlier in the week, which required me to run 25 minutes at my goal pace of 8:00, in which my average pace for the 25 minutes was 7:30.
I think I will keep the goal at 1:44 for now but see what I do on August 28 for the actual half marathon.

I have an ultra this weekend. I hope I don't die.

Survived my ultra, barely. 50k trail in 5hrs 51 minutes. I hit a wall the last 6 miles and cramped bad.
