Put me down for Marine Corps Marathon 10/28/18. This will be my 18th Marathon but my first in 16 years. The heat and humidity sucks.

Ive done multiple 10 and 15k but never a half. Started back up about a month ago to get back into running shape.

Sucks training in Vegas summers, lucky I travel alot and can get in outside runs in when I can.

Got an "easy" 3 miles in today. I see the short runs on my training plan and think they'll be easy and quick. But following a 6 mile run with big hills made this morning feel like shite.

6 miles. 62 minutes. Included a 300 foot hill that was a mile long then rolling hills the rest of the way. Didn’t walk once. Proud of this one.

Hello fellow runners. What's the length limit for this thread?

I love running, but due to knee injuries, I can't run as long as I'd like too. I find it much less stressful on my knee when I am taking long strides. Therefore I have found a passion for 5Ks. My goal is to run sub 20. I also want to slowly build up to 10k which I think might be my limit. I would like to ultimately run under 7min/mile for a 10k.

Cool thread idea, but I dont want to be the only lame guy going under a half marathon.

Big guy checking in here. (6’-1”, 230 currently - down from 242 at the end of July) Training for the Dopey Challenge in Jan at WDW. Ran a 7 miler on Sat at a 10:30 Pace with a little Run / walk / run mixed in. Maintenance runs on Tuesday and Thursday with weights and elliptical mixed in during the week. 9 miler coming up this Saturday.

Following the Galloway Dopey program.

6AM traffic at the BR lakes really picked up this weekend. Was dead 2 /3 weeks ago.

Good luck everyone.

Hello all. Thought I'd check in and find some camaraderie here and check out what other runners were doing since it's mostly bikists where I live.

Used to run in high school and a year in college before I took a break to drink and smoke for a decade. Got back into it in November and am about 40 miles a week now.

Goals: 60 miles a week. 18 min 5k.

5K in two weeks, 15K in a month, marathon in 2.5 months.

Weekly training includes long, tempo, and intervals.

TLDR

Just looking to connect with other runners and maybe pick up some advice along the way.

Edit: 11.5 in 1:33 LSD

How much would you all think is too much for a running coach? I’m meeting with one today that owns a facility. Includes personal training, TRX classes, and personalized nutrition/training plans. Plus group runs and race discounts.

He and his coaches are some of the only ones I’ve found that have legit credentials outside of experience and good times. Seems like anyone who can run a sub-4 hour marathon thinks they’re qualified to be a running coach. I want someone who has experience with injury prevention and an understanding of fixing form problems.

I imagine this is going to be pricey but I just can’t keep having runs like this morning.

4 miles. 49 minutes total.

Yeah, I walked 1.5 minutes to the start point and stopped to tie my shoes. There are two small hills on the loop. So subtract what? 5 minutes? 11 minutes/mile? At 33 years old running almost 30 miles a week? When I felt like I was pushing it?

Something’s off.

Tomorrow ends my two-week break. The foot is feeling better, and it should be cooling off finally. I just got REALLY sick of running in that shite. I think I'll start w a slow 10k and then a swim.

I'm still sidelined w foot. Pretty sure it's achilles tendinitis. Tried to run again Sunday and stopped after a few steps. Went on 5 mile dog walk instead and then it really hurt.

Doing all the self-help PT things, cross training and strengthening. May do some real PT. Bummer but it is still freaking hot and humid and I'm stuck here right now so I'll deal.

Good excuse to get swolt (jk)

The humidity this morning was terrible. Just terrible.

One of the most disgusting, miserable runs of the year. “Expect some cooler fall temperatures next week...” frick you, James Spann. The temps are lower but I ran through a wet blanket.

6 miles. 13 minute total pace. 10 minute pace when I was running. 976 feet total elevation climb.

13 on saturday at a nice and measured 1030 pace. Was it just me or was there just the slightest tinge of a cool breeeze for a couple hours Sat morning in BR?

More importantly for me - down 21 lbs since the end of July. Makes running easier for sure.

Easy 4 this morning. Heart rate was high though no matter how slow I went.

Doing a quick 3 in the morning and then 17 on Saturday.

Well...looks like I might be staring at my first real injury. I think it’s plantar fasciitis but there’s a weird nagging feeling on the inside of my heel that makes me think potential stress fracture. It’s nothing real painful yet but I’m worried about running tomorrow.

I tried submerging it in a bucket of ice water. How long should I hold it under? I could stand like 15 seconds but it felt like my bones were breaking all the way up my body. My wife said ten minutes, but I don’t know if I could stand that.

7 miles with the hills. Strong fall wind in my face was like a beautiful, glorious parachute holding me back.

4 miles yesterday. 2 miles today.

Feeling heavy this week. That 18 miler on Saturday must have taken a lot out of me.
