If anyone wants to listen to a quick pod regarding the opiate epedimic, “the daily” released one today and yesterday. Great listens. I knew a lot of the info already as a recovering heroin addict being to treatment so many times etc. defenitly a good listen though.
Yeah like a poster said, it doesn’t discriminate. And there’s rarely a happy ending. Ive has a lot of friends and former clients die, but I’ve also seen some hopeless people recover.

Thanks brother, that means a lot. Been a long road but made it through and life is pretty darn good today.

No it's not a disease. If I get cancer I just can't be like "you know I don't wanna have cancer anymore". If I did drugs I could stop.
This country is going to shite because nobody takes responsibility for their own lives. Nothing is your fault.

What were the signs?
Flunking out of college
Wrecking his car
Wrecking his parents car into the garage door
I could smell the pot smoke when I was outside so they must have been able to
Me telling them that I found a drug baggy at the edge of their driveway
His supposed response to that inquiry if they ever actually asked him

I'm not a fan of the victim terminology but it's not the reason. There were major epidemics long before anyone referred to the addicted as victims.

It’s pretty obvious what was going on here with his parents.

There are cases where drug use in one city is 5x the rate of the border city. If a real disease showed a similar discrepancy the EPA etc would be on it like crazy to ID the cause. Shitty, weak, bitchass ppl do drugs. The more inferior, lesser stock ppl in an area the more drug users. The truth hurts.

Like I said... power of denial. They didn’t want to believe. They didn’t want to see. They put their heads in the sand and hoped it was a phase that went away.

The EPA? Just stop.
Better to be silent and thought a fool than open your mouth and confirm it.

Or be faced with needing help and having to ask for it. You have to admit you f’d up in the first place to do that.

Someone got a gold star in DARE.
Some of the most powerful, successful people in history were big fans of drugs.
-I'm NOT saying do drugs. Just saying that it's not exclusively a problem of "shitty, weak, bitchass ppl".

What the two posters above me said.
Anyway, I hope the kid gets the help he needs.
I can be reached via my user name at gmail if anyone hs anyone struggling with this disease. I have a good amount of resources and try to help as many people as I can try and get some form of treatment.

Look I'm sorry, but this is still no reason for legislation that makes it harder for people who need "controlled" drugs to actually get them.

Explain why good areas have low rates of opioid use while low IQ hillbilly areas are 15x higher?
Please, enlighten me.

I just think you have wrong information. I work in the treatment industry. Most of our clients come from middle to upper class families. It effects all walks of life period.

You're familiar with correlation and causation, right? Junkies don't typically find themselves in a position to move into a good area. And those in good areas that become junkies usually find themselves moving out.
