I’ve never been a fan of this reasoning. Best player should be on the field.

This response to my post doesn't even make sense given the context of my whole post. Not just the 1/2 that you chose to focus on.

Again, Harris and Stevens have not proven themselves to get playing time so far.

I responded to the point you were trying to make about a senior/3-4 year player should play over Insert player

If you meant it in another way, I apologize.

I brought up Monroe, because I was talking about him and IMO he’s the only one who would give Battle a challenge for that position.

I agree about Battle playing over Harris and Stevens.

It’s too early to be arguing. Maybe I missed your point, it just seemed like you were referring to a senior playing because he’s a senior.

I think Battle is pretty good, but I also think we have more talented guys behind him who will make a serious push. Monroe, Harris and Stevens all have a little experience now.

Battle continuously shits the bed. He’s a good safety, but we have players in our roster who can be elite

Eric Monroe looks better to me the guy is in on every play and is an enforcer should be the starter

I think what you'll see more of is both of them on the field. Monroe is a versatile enough safety with his coverage abilities that you'll see him play a lot of nickel this season. Battle is a solid player, but not exceptional. Monroe just has the ability to play several positions in the secondary so he'll be utilized as well. Too good to keep off the field!

This is what stuck out to me as well. Monroe always finds the ball.

Experience is great

Being good at what your doing is better

Brandon taylor wasn’t the greatest athlete but he knew where he was supposed to be and was a solid tackler.

Battle is noticeable out of position a lot. Misses tackles.

People give Dante Jackson so much shite for the Notre Dame Game but go watch that TD.

Battle not only pulls up early, he literally bounces off the WR when he tries to tackle him.

Battle the not 165 pound CB somehow is forgetten for 100% getting tricked by a WR.

I'm expecting him to have a Dwayne Thomas like turnaround this year.

That would be awesome. Thomas was a nightmare for opponents his senior year.

We used Thomas much better his senior year.

He was good on shorter routes, CB blitzes and blowing up bubble screen.

Bama couldn’t go verticals and he just ate their lunch on all those passes behind the line of scrimmage they ran.

It helped having a safety named Jamal Adams back there where Bama couldn't go deep.

It also helped that Hurts doesn’t have a cannon of an arm.

But we know very little about safety play. Not many know the responsibilities of the safeties on a given play. But they get all the blame when the replay shows them as the only one in the frame trying to chase down an opponent.

Yes, safeties do screw up some, but I doubt it is as often as the fans think

Delpit will be a 1st or 2nd round pick, he was better than battle as a freshman.

Monroe will start the nickel because he's too good not to see the field. If battle was to go down the defense wouldn't miss a beat with monroe opposite delpit.
