Helped move my son and his bride into their new place. It was brutal (mostly due to the heat), but I have to say: Driving a truck cross country doesn't totally suck. Seeing new places, listening to whatever I want, nobody bitching at me.

I can see the appeal of being a trucker. And lot lizards are just an added bonus.

16’ is for beginners. Next time do a 26’...with a car hauler.

I only ran over every curb between Atlanta and Dallas.

How much money do truckers make annually?

I've heard anywhere from 30k (Swift) to 100k (Roeder Cartage).

Next time, drive to Halifax and Maine and look for the handles of Bubbles and Ray. Meet them for hot hamburg sandwiches.

Have you seen a typical lot lizard? Seems more like an occupational hazard than a bonus.

I drove a 26 foot U-Haul from Houston stop over in Baton Rouge to Tampa full with a truck in tow. It was a long rough ride.

I drove a 26 footer from Houston to DC with my dad. He was 65 and had to stop to piss every 2-3 hours and the highest temps we saw were 30 degrees, with most of the trip around 15-20 degrees.

Even with that, I had a blast. Wish we could have done it in the fall to see the leaves changing.

Did you get your "knob polished" at a truck stop along the way? We're all friends...you can tell us!
