A lab job in the petroleum inspection industry.
shite pay.
On call all the time.
Having to deal with dumb asses constantly.
Thank God it was only 15 months.
Now I'm happy with my career however. Left that crap in my rearview.
Nowadays my absolute worst day is still better than best day in that horrible industry.
Im very appreciative of my good bosses, good company, etc due to my experience in the inspection industry.

Hauling hay. Might clear 15-20 bucks in a 10 hour day.
People make money hauling hay? Interesting.
I married into horses so I’ve been known to pay $1500-$2000 for the unadulterated pleasure of picking up 400 bales of hay out of the field, loading them onto a flat bed, taking them home (turn too fast and reload them off the street), and stacking them 12’ high in the barn.

This is my early leader in the clubhouse for the thread winner. Being around all that concrete/asphalt/whatever runways are made out of in 115 degree heat sounds just horrible.

Not me, but a friend of mine worked one summer at ADM flour mill in Destrehan and his job was shoveling maggots in the summer heat. Talk about nasty.

Part time. Telemarketing for trooper association.
Full time. Working for a big debt collector in Baton Rouge in their IT dept. Terrible place all around. I'd post their name but probably sue me.

I unloaded planes for Delta one summer in Atlanta. Was the hottest job ever. It was like well over 100 every day that summer.
The shittiest job I ever had and I lasted about 3 weeks in it was as as a car salesman. You talk about sleaseballs. I just couldnt handle fricking customers like that.

When I was in the military, there was a Master Sergeant who would deliver pizza for Papa Johns at night. He would mainly just deliver to the base, and would make a killing with tips. He was in his 50s,single and just contributing & securing his retirement.

Air temp was 33 degrees. Steady wind driven deluge. Wearing yellow slicker and matching pants. They were mine. That is. I was working out in the elements previous to this instance
I swung a pick. Green serpentine.
We could not use a back hoe at the location.
I wore borrowed rain boots. Got some fungus.
I was working for free on a Saturday. As service. The location was a meditation retreat center. Quiet. Hence no back hoe. I was in good shape. Swinging a pick on serpentine is my toughest.
My wife minored in poetry. She talks about shite poetry a lot. She once read me some and my only reaction was “who writes this?”.
Now I know.

When I graduated from college, I enlisted in the Navy with hopes of making it into OCS School. I enlisted in May and was set for basic training the following March. I needed a job during the ten-month-wait, so I started working at a cotton gin in September. I worked with illegal immigrants and white dudes who worked at the cotton gin during harvest, and drew unemployment and government assistance for the rest of the year. I felt like Luke Wilson in Idiocracy every day I went to work. My job consisted of pushing a button, spinning the press around, and filling out a ticket for each bale we pressed. I did this 14 hours a day, 94 days in a row. I have never been so miserable, and I have never doubted the fate of humanity more than I did in those 94 days. I didn’t quit because the money was decent and I had things lined out for the future. Fast forward... I got rejected from the Navy before I shipped out to basic because of undiagnosed asthma, and I became a teacher. Eight years later I’m an administrator and am very happy the Navy didn’t work out. But damn, never work in a cotton gin baws

Delivering phone books in Memphis. Back then, the books were nearly 2" thick. Went to all parts of Memphis. If you looked up"fone company" it said "see phone co."

Cleaning used wheels and hubcaps at Hubcap Heaven on Florida in '95 as a sophomore in HS. $6\hr cash was good money for a 15 year old but the acid mix I used to cut the brake dust completely ate my hands and everything else it got on.

What if a 40 yr old's wife leaves him and he's hit with a ton of support.
