QB- Downgrade - just because we're not sure of what we're getting here. Don't underestimate what Etling brought to the team - grit, leadership, and ball security. That was huge for us last year.

I can’t totally disagree with you here, but Etling was running a system that was safe for his abilities.
He couldn’t lead a receiver, couldn’t throw down field, couldn’t throw an outroute.
He had great ball security because they didn’t ask him to throw it over middle or to the sidelines, because he couldn’t. Everything was curl routes, flat routes and the occasional play action throw it deep, which was usually under thrown or a 50/50 ball and our receivers turned into DBs.
He did have leadership and grit.

Burrow and Brennan both have more athletic ability. They will strive better in this system than Etling would.
Let’s remember Burrow is a back up transfer from Ohio State who basically got jumped because Haskins fits the mold in Urban’s system.
Etling was a 3rd string from Purdue who was pretty bad there.

Even with the uncertainties, QB will be an upgrade, purely on the more pass happy approach with capable QBs.

I’m way more excited to see Burrow or Brennan than Etling coming back. Just an opinion.

RB- Push (at worst. Guice was limited)

DL- Upgrade

ST- Upgrade

This list is shite. Did you really say push with DWill and Guice being replaced by CEH and Curry?

Come on man.

And I wouldn’t go as far as to say “Massive Upgrade” at QB.

Assuming every position group has improved since last season:

QBs - upgrade (Burrow)
RBs - downgrade (Lack of physical RBs outside of Curry)
WRs - big upgrade (Losing Chark and Gage hurt but there’s improved depth, stud freshmen, and Giles)
TEs - upgrade (Moss)
OL - push (Clapp and Weathersby’s experience is hard to replace)

DL - push (desperately need quality depth to develop)
ILB - upgrade (Lose Alexander but White should be improved along with Phillips, Taylor, and Queen)
OLB - push (Losing Thompson and Key sucks but you get Cherry and a healthy Anthony)
DBs - push (Toliver and Jackson were solid at times but guys like Kary Vincent have a ton of potential)

ST - upgrade (new kicker)

I like your list.

IMO I would say upgrade at DL because of the depth.

Otherwise I agree.

Me too. Doesn't mean it's an upgrade - we can't determine that yet. We haven't seen Burrow in our scheme or with our receivers. Brennan was less than impressive in the Spring game, so was Narcisse.

I don't have enough info yet to say we've upgraded at QB. It'd say it's at best a Push right now, because of the potential we have with Burrow/Brennan/Narcisse.

Can’t really argue with your opinion either.

We’ll know soon enough

Guice wasn't all that last year due to injuries or whatever. Same as key. Both highly talented but honestly not up to their talent last year. Jmo.

I certainly hope that Shelvin, Logan, and Farrell can step up and become a solid second string unit. If not, LSU’s D will suffer like it did last season where they could barely rotate.

So are you saying that Etling was / is a good QB ? Are you saying that you don’t believe that Burrow is any good?
You certainly aren’t bragging that Etling was the 11th QB taken are you?

I won’t disagree with saying they have lots of upside. Farrell is my dude.

But to call them proven? Not at all.

I guess you enjoyed last year's offense that produced less than Cam Cameron's offenses.

I agree Etling was under appreciated last year.

However, Burrow has all of Danny's best traits (smarts, toughness, etc.), but Joe is more athletic, more decisive, has a stronger arm, and is more accurate.

In short...UPGRADE.

Tell me how?
They're talented but I wouldn't say it's an upgrade when you lose DJ Chark. Its unknown as of now but at least a push if you believe Giles will replace the production lost by Chark.
