Guice wasn't all that last year due to injuries or whatever. Same as key. Both highly talented but honestly not up to their talent last year. Jmo.

He still averaged 5.3 ypc and had 11 TDs and 1300 yards in his limited time. And Darrell Williams was at 5.7 ypc with 9 TDs and 800 yards.

If we get that from our top 2 backs next year, we should win 10 games.

ETA:

Not to mention combining for 41 catches and 450 yards, which is an 11 ypc average.

ou think CEH, Brossette, Curry? = Guice and DW?
absolutely. The production will be at least equal. Guice was injured and clearly protecting himself. We aren't talking talent. We are talking production. Watch and learn.

Guice still averaged 5.3 ypc and Williams had 5.7. Including receiving these guys had over 2500yds and 22 TDs. I like CEH and Curry, but I think you are way too optimistic. I hope you are right.

No one on the roster besides maybe Curry gives the north south hard nosed ability that Guice and Williams had. That's why some are skeptical about the RB room this upcoming season.

Just Drake, really. Sullivan played the entire year.

He played sparingly and mainly on running downs. 11 catches no receiving touchdowns after Syracuse and 1 rushing touchdown against Auburn.

Think we have different definitions of clutch. Clutch is performing at a high level when the game is on the line.

I think the passing game will be better and upgrade arms for sure. Etling was a game manager not a game changer

This is delusion at its finest. There is zero objectivity or common sense on this board. Completely ridiculous.
MASSIVE upgrade at QB??!!
PUSH at RB??! Lol ok

This seems spot on. Hopefully QB ends up as an upgrade but this is a reasonable assessment

It was clutch for the drive. It was 3rd and long and the ball was thrown into triple or quadruple coverage and he came down with it. Pretty clutch to me given the circumstances

ETA: I know it’s not clutch like Flynn to Byrd. It was a nice catch in a very tough spot. Good enough for me.

there's certainly reason to be optimistic about the qb position this fall, but right now we don't have anything more tangible than a few spring games.

You described a good skilled play. Would you consider OBJs 1 handed catch against the cowboys clutch? No it was a good skilled play. Clutch is early doucet catch a slant against bama on 4th down and making a guy miss and scoring a touchdown late in 4th to tie the game. It was doucets game winning catch on 4th down against Arizona state or game winning catch with seconds left against Tennessee.

You certainly aren’t bragging that Etling was the 11th QB taken are you?

I can’t tell which of you/supersaints9 are talking down on Etling, but getting drafted is validation that he was a pretty good QB. it remains to be seen if he’ll make the roster and, if he does, whether he’ll have success, but I certainly hope he does.
