I would say send Milo to prison but he would probably enjoy it to much.

Damn so was the Annapolis shooter responding to the Milo story? Do we know a motive? If that’s the case holy shite

Good point.

I'm shocked more shite like this hasn't happened at newspapers, especially as they cut them razor thin, and get rid of the older people.

I'm surprised they don't have more security. Most papers have an investigative reporter, and people who are at risk of being exposed don't like newspapers very much.

Republicans as a group aren't responsible for this whatsoever, but Milo may have blood on his hands. Anyone that follows him is already unhinged, so it wouldn't take much to convince them to resort to violence.

I disagree. Milo didn't kill anyone. Milo shouldn't be held responsible for some idiot not thinking for himself. This is the sort of argument that gives people the idea that we should censor speech. Milo said those statements in private messages and journalists made them public. So if you're going to say Milo has blood on his hands then so do the journalists that published his quotes for the public to see.

I think Milo is an idiot fwiw, but I refuse to blame anyone other than the person who was directly involved. Thats a cop out to say otherwise.

No, not at all. Someone just brought up something Milo said that was along the lines of "shoot journalists in the street".

But do you really think someone attacked the freaking Capital Gazette based on what Milo said? Its absurd. No one knows why this person did what they did and no one even knows who it is yet.

That's like handing a heroin addict your keys and telling them to watch your house while you go to work. Journalistic ethics is mostly dead and Milo knew what he said would be printed.

Look, I'm not blaming Milo unless the shooter comes out says he did it because Milo inspired the act, but it's hard not to give Milo shite considering his words the other day.

And if the house burnt down you're not going to say the heroin addict is responsible? Because they're a heroin addict they're no longer accountable for their actions?

Its a reach IMO. A huge reach. Milo barely has any platform and if this guy is 39 years old then I doubt he's much of a Milo fan.

It’s not absurd to think some crazy saw what was said and shot up the closest journalists he could find.

I’m not saying that’s what happened, but it’s not absurd.

Yes it is. This is not major news outlet we're talking about here. Its a huge stretch to think he was directly motivated by specifically Milo to shoot up a small news organization.

It is. Its absurd. How many violent attacks on news organizations have been political in the last 20 years? I can't think of one.

The last attack on a news outlet was a disgruntled employee that I can recall.

That’s called tribalism, and it isn’t going away any time soon but you already know that. We can blame this or make excuses for what someone does but at the end of the day people make choices and unless it’s under distress its their choice.

Actually they’re investigating Cadet Bone Spurs’ collusion with a foreign adversary, and obstruction of justice.

And you know what? They’re going to NAIL the motherfricker!

My analogy is that you are giving someone information knowing full well what they will do with it. If you give an addict keys to your house, you better expect to come home to all your shite being pawned. Milo knew his words would not remain off the record. Note that I am not giving the journalist a pass if those words were indeed told in confidence. That is also wrong.

I am not blaming Milo for the shooting and I agree with you on that. The shooter is the only one currently to blame. The shooting and Milo are currently not linked and probably not linked. I am calling Milo out for being a pussy and not owning up to what he said regardless of the shooter's motive. That point still stands. Don't be surprised if people come knocking at your door if you wish someone murdered one day and they turn up with bullet holes the next. Be a man, own your words, admit it looks suspect, and learn that what you said has an effect on how people perceive the situation. Don't blame other people for what came out of your mouth.

"Hey guys, I know this looks bad. I said some stuff that I shouldn't have and the next day it happened. I regret that. We need to find a way to fix these sorts of things." Not, "frick you! I said it, but it's your fault for repeating what I said."

It sounds like this had no relation to Milo's comments, but if it had, I'm not sure blame is the right word. The guy who did the shooting is the one at fault no doubt, but Milo would have been more culpable than you or I, for example.
