I've Been Waiting For This Day For Years

Decades ago, the Left realized that they couldn't consistently win at the ballot box, so they decided to politicize the judiciary. Most of you were probably not even born when the Democrats decided to declare war on the brilliant jurist, Robert Bork. They ran national ads narrated by Gregory Peck smearing him. They then added insult to injury by having Ted Kennedy lead the fight against him on the Senate floor.
The GOP didn't know how to react. Nothing like that had ever happened before, the Senate was known as a refined institution, with its rules, and its belief that presidents have a right to have their nominees confirmed, unless there was something unethical or immoral about the nominee. Bork's sin was that he believed in federalism.
The Left has contaminated the whole process, and now it has come back to bite them. It couldn't happen to a more deserving group of people.

Well it's m'am but that's ok.
Yep,this forced the GOP to offer someone "safe", whereas the Left always marches in lockstep, and always gets their radical nominees confirmed.
It's a new world.

I thought something came up about him smoking weed in college?
Of course that wasn’t a problem for slick willie a few years later.

Well I'm waiting for the day RBG is replaced by Trump. It will be awesome.

Nice recap. The left doesn't play by the rules. They cheat or make their own rules. Time for some political payback.

I’m old enough to remember that.
When Bork failed, he was replaced by Thomas and it worked out.
Bush’s next pick was Souter though.
He was scared of another fight.

Kennedy was Bork's replacement.
Souter was the replacement for Ginsberg, who got caught having smoked pot with his students.
Thomas was a Bush appointee.

That was Douglas Ginsburg, Reagan's second attempt after Bork. Kennedy finally got the seat.
The ethics knock on Bork was his role in the Saturday Night Massacre during Watergate.
Turned out to be a Pyrrhic victory for progs. Bork didn't believe in an individual right to own handguns. If he'd been there instead of Kennedy, Heller would have gone the other way.
