Expectations should correlate with the current state of the program. Not just raised each year because you feel like it.
Well, it could easily be argued that LSU will upgrade at OC, QB, OL and WR. So, I'm not sure how those expectations wouldn't correlate to this season.

It can be argued all you want, but we don't know that these are upgrades yet. Until we know, expectations should be lowered because of the size of change that it is.
You guys seem to be leaving out our SOS this year too.
Ya know, there's reasons why the "experts" say we go 6-6 this year instead of 8-4 like they said last year.

You know who you’re talking to?
You want my predictions on the season or expectations?
You do realize the talent and resources at LSU, right? You know that we should at least compete in our own division of our conference every year, right?
What exactly are you trying to say? That 8-4 should be the ceiling? Okay, well that’s my prediction, but it’s not what I “expect” at LSU.
Don’t try that “you’re whats wrong with the fan base” crap.

what a joke weve become.
You at least make the freaking phone call to the agent. Hell, if you didnt call sexton first, you should automatically be fired.

Then we can agree to disagree then, because I don't think you lower expectations when the head coach makes what he thinks are upgrades to the offensive staff.

It’s embarrasing. But what are we going to do as fans, ya know?!?
Just keeping rooting on Saturday’s and hope this shite show gets better.

My exact point.

Not only that, I don't recall lowering expectations for Mainieri this year. Why should football be any different?

I think TchPowDog is on our side, he just doesn't know, yet.

I disagree with some of your sentiments, but you present them in a logical and unbiased way which gives me pause. You're having discussions, not arguments. Its refreshing so keep it up.
Well I don't want to get too carried away otherwise we'll all have to cyber-hug it out and turn in our man cards.

I think we could all use a cyber-hug lately.
Let’s get this God damn season started, huh?

Expectations.

This year, absolutely. It's foolish to expect more than that this year.

We're all on the same side. I'm just not going to be a whiny bitch when we don't go 10-2 this year. That's what unrealistic expectations causes.
It's unrealistic to expect that and it's beyond stupid to predict it.
And you know a lot of people on here expect 10-2 or better every damn year. It's so stupid.

It's been posted a few times this week in other threads, but the SOS is about as strong as it's usually been. Last season was the notable exception because it was so down, yet we still had 4 losses.
Those expert predictions can't be entirely tied to the schedule being tough. And there seems to be a consensus that we have plenty of talent, even if there is inexperience. So why would expectations from the "experts" be lowered for us? I think most understand why.
That doesn't mean we as fans have to lower them.

Orgeron's going to beat at least 5 of those on the list ahead of him this season.
Which 5?

Wow. I very much disagree, but I guess that's what makes the world go round. The head coach has exactly what he's wanted in place and the toughest 2 games are at home. If he can't win more than 8 games this season, I'm not sure what else needs to happen for him to do so.

This is my point. Those expert predictions are lowered for several reasons. Offensive overhaul, SOS, Ed Orgeron, etc.
My point is when we have an offensive overhaul like this year and a SOS like this year, we shouldn't expect to go 10-2. It's ludicrous.

For me, if he won 8, then he lived up to my expectations. If he wins 6-7, then he didn't.
You also don't want a coach that just meets expectations every year (Mark Richt/Les Miles), you want a guy who deliver's 110% and goes beyond expectations every now and then. Do I think Ed is a good candidate for this - Hell no. Which also influences my expectations.
Also, don't confuse my expectations of the team with the university/athletic department. They're very different. I expect LSU to get the right coaches in here.

And those are the reasons I dont think we go 10-2. But if we had diff leadership in place, I may have had diff thoughts on THIS season.
