Recommendation for family trip with nature trails, trees, clean air and clean lake

Was looking to plan a trip with my family (wife and 5 year old son). Essentially, wanted to find scenery like The Great Outdoors movie with John Candy & Dan Ackroyd.
Turns out that was filmed in Cali. Too far for us to travel (by car) from Louisiana.
Anyone have a recommendation on a spot with luxury cabins and outdoor activities galore? Preferably with impressive dining options?

If you’re an OT baller, BlackBerry Farm.

What do you consider dirty air?

You mean the great state of Louisiana doesn’t have anything to offer? From the way LA folks have opinions on things you’d think it is the perfect place with no reason to EVER leave.
I’m sure Texas has something.

Louisiana and clean don't mix. Nor did outdoor activities (minus hunting and fishing).

Any air that is within 50 miles from a Starbucks and more than 1 bar of cell phone signal.

Good luck with that

We just returned from a week at Lake Glenville near Cashiers, NC. It is a wonderful place but they may not have luxury cabins for only 3. We rented a very nice house that sleeps 16. Google cabin rentals on Lake Glenville.
Picture of some folks feeding ducks from a small dock at dusk.

I plan to post a review of our trip as soon as I get a chance. If you read that it will give you more information about the area. Cashiers is southwest and an hour + from Asheville.

Arkansas.
Rent house on Beaver Lake and hike at Hobbs.
Rent cabin from Buffalo Outdoor Center and hike near Buffalo River, drive to various lakes. Float Buffalo if high, otherwise float the White.
Big Cedar is a great recommendation, too.

Tell me more. About the town, places to eat, shop, etc.
Did you stay in a place with a lake view?

We stayed in a cabin on the toccoa River about 5 min from town. River is cold as shite but beautiful. The damn releases once a day and the river will start flowing like crazy and raise about 5 ft. Then it will go down hours later.
We were actually planning to go back this summer and stay on the lake but chose the beach instead.
There are plenty of houses on the lake to stay in per vrbo.
Driving around all the roads around the lake are fun.
The town is new looking and reminds me of a small Colorado ski town. There is a brewery, about 15 different places to eat at and shopping. My so was pregnant with our second child and we had our 10 month old so we didn't get to do the trails to see all the waterfalls. They have a train ride to McCaysville that is badass through the mountains running along the river.
Its just incredible place if ur looking for the mountains with different things to do. I would stay on the lake because you can swim and the water is not cold as shite.
If you stay on the river below the damn near elijay (sp), water is not cold but also not as clear as the Toccoa.
Just look up places to eat at and things to do and you will easily fill daily itenirary.

Thanks. Have informed the family of my wishes for this will be our destination in Summer 2019. May even make it an extended family trip with my cousin and his kids.
Appreciate the feedback. Looking forward to some clean air, and R & R.
