re: Why aren’t wages rising rapidly if there are 6 million job openings?

It’s not an instant effect. It has a lag. Market is always trying to see an equilibrium.
Employers give raises yearly not monthly based on market trends. So actual raises and when they report to collection agencies lags actual market trends. Those getting higher may be seeing increases but drowned out by whole labor pool.

They certainly aren't doing this in Baton Rouge.

some shite like price elasticity of demand causing wages to rise once demand makes it worth paying more for.

Increase in jumber of jobs doesnt mean wages go up it just means you can get off tour dead arse and go to work.

Check the wages in Midland Texas. Truck drivers $150K. Sonic $20 per hour. ect.
The company I work for has a facility in Texas (not Midland, though). They have been getting really busy and are having a hard time finding workers to meet their demands. They are trying to poach our experienced technicians and offering them significant pay increases. We’ve already lost one guy who is making the move.
I know skilled labor with experience is in a good position right now. Opportunities are opening up.

There is no hiring whatsoever in Madison, Hinds and Rankin counties - the most affluent - in Mississippi.
We dying up here.

Perhaps the available "talent" doesn't match the jobs.

Are you capable of having an intelligent discussion without bringing Trump into it?
Realizing the foundation of your theory is wrong. Economists have been expecting rising wages since before the tax cut was put into place.
Get your head out of your arse and learn something new.

You got links?
Downward pressure on wages by cheap foreign labor in the US is the answer.

That's because Louisiana, unlike the rest of the country, is actually in the midst of a crippling recession. Our GDP has shrunk 2 consecutive years and we're still shedding jobs.

Owners and corporations took their tax cuts and used them for stock buybacks instead of investing in workforce.
the one time bonuses and small raises splattered to people got across this country amounted to dick compared to what corporations received in tax welfare.
Look, I'm not conservative. No one on this board would consider me conservative. But just think about how dumb the term "tax welfare" is. Think. Its a purely political phrase that manages to be even more idiotic than welfare queen. Having the government lower taxes is not a form of welfare for corporations. The government deciding not to take the money is not the same as the government giving them money because the businesses still had to earn that money themselves.
I don't like Trump, but the tax plan still has helped the economy. Maybe wages aren't rising as fast as you would like (they're still rising), but the benefit of 6 million open jobs is kids graduating college actually have options now. Instead of going to live with the parents for four more years, they can pursue a real career and have independence as adults.
The worst part of the left nowadays (outside of the communists) is the idea that we should create immense taxes targeting businesses to create huge welfare programs. Because then you will get mad at the same businesses when there are less/no job openings. Calling it greed when its really just bad economics.

The labor market has tightened, as evidenced by headline employment and (albeit sluggish) wage growth.
But we are still sitting near 1970s-level participation rates, which is also sluggishly improving. That means there are likely a significant number of people returning to the work force that we need to churn through before the labor market is truly as tight as it’s been during historical periods of rapid wage growth.

Able to but they won't necessarily get a significant increase
