I don't understand why someone from Louisiana would go on vacation and then go to "authentic" Louisiana food restaurants
It's not really Cajun. It's just damn good food, period, probably best in Destin. If you consider the "shrimp basket" venturing out then go ahead.

Hitting up Destin in a couple weeks. Stay in the same condo, eat at the same places, and rent the same paddle boards every year.
Anybody recommend a good jambalaya place? They got crawfish there?

The Back Porch. It's on the beach, great atmosphere and food.

There’s also a pizza / wing spot in Destin by AJs on 98. Forgot the name but it was good too. Buffalo jacks is out by the outlets and the construction traffic was awful a few weeks ago.

I too would like family-friendly ideas for somewhere to go with 4 a-hole kids 9-15 yrs old.
Fudpuckers has a horrendous wait time, but it's informal and kid friendly. Get on the list and go to the arcade next door. It's perfect for a rainy day where you can't go to the beach.
McGuire's is what you looking for for a moderate, kid-friendly evening dinner.

We have a group of 3 families going the week of July 4th. Cooking most nights but we are going to hit The Crab Trap one night and Fudpuckers for teenagers one night. But now that I saw someone mention Harbor Walk for sushi, might hit that up as well.
