That you believe that the US Government, with all of its built- in inefficiencies, with its incredible layers of bureaucracy, all those idiots at all those desks, would provide a superior healthcare system then one based on economic efficiencies and market forces is pure magical thinking. Not that any catastrophic failure would ever deter a single Progressive with a slogan and somebody else’s money. In fact, the more it failed, the more likely Progressives would champion it.

They don't think in terms of national benefit. They think in terms of personal gain.

I don't like the alternative either. A company has an economic interest and directly makes more profit by denying my claim.
I know, you are thinking that company will not stay in business for the long term with this kind of thinking. That may be the case but CEOs these days are not looking at long term viability. They are looking at getting their money now and denying claims gets them money now.
Honestly, I am not crazy about either method. I am just really averse to the idea of someone making more profit by killing me.

See... The problem is that market forces are mythical too. Insurance companies run the entire health care system and guess what? They have just as many idiots at desks as the government. And their only goal is to pay as little as possible for your care so they can make money off of you. It's remarkably in inefficient except for when they take money out of your check every payday.
