Need New Washer & Dryer Recs

Ok we had a discussion on here a month or so about the new Speed Queen washing machine not being worth a shite anymore. I was hoping my current 25 year old set of Kenmores would hold out till I build my new house next year. But the wife called this morning saying the washing machine wouldn’t fill with water. So I’m going to go ahead and buy a new set now instead of trying to fix this one. Because the dryer has a dead spot on the timer and we’ve been fighting with it for over a year because it’s not worth putting the money into it.
So can y’all give me some good top load models to look at. We went looked this afternoon but everything seems to have auto water level. If you read the reviews on them they don’t get all the soap out because they don’t use enough water.

We just bought a new washer and dryer set from Lowes on Monday. We went with an LG 5.2 top load washer (no agitator) with the corresponding dryer. We went into this thinking there was no way we would go with another LG after the LG front loaders that are currently using but after research it appears that LG was the way to go. We considered Kenmore but even the sales people at Sears talked us out of them. We also considered comparable Whirlpool and Maytag models but ultimately decided to go with LG. I did want to look at the Speed Queens but my wife didn’t want to consider them and I defer to her as she will be the one using them.

I bought a Speed Queen in April. I do about 10 loads of laundry a week and it cleans the hell out of our clothes. Been really happy with it.

Even if Speed Queen quality dropped, it is still better than most everything else.
But I kind of agree with the go cheap. Who needs 75 wash cycle settings, 38 temperature settings, 10 water level choices and 50 speed options? Just wash my damn shirts!

Sorry for your divorce. Good luck finding the new wife that meets your requirements

Don’t do it. Spend a couple hundred and get new parts for old kenmore. It’ll last 30 more years. New ones - 5 years

we've had those expensive ones and had several problems. After 15 years of problems with diff higher price brands, we went back to Maytag. Got tired of the repair man. They are not worth it. Or maybe I got bad "expensive brand" luck. Good luck.

Bought two sets of identical Speed Queen Washer/Dryers within the past year.
They couldn’t be better.

Speed Queen
Or the cheapest you can buy.
Avoid companies with two letter names.
Kenmore has never made an appliance ever. It's all rebrands.

How hard is it to replace the belt on an old washer machine? Mine just crapped out.

Yes agree, fix old set. I wish I never gave up my old set because we moved to a new house.

Old maytag?
Easy
Old frigidaire harder.
Ge hardest.
Whirlpool - may not have a belt at all

Easy, buy new belt, tip machine back and change belt.
The motor will move back and forth a little to allow this.
