We teed off early this morning and my expectations were sky high due to the reviews I constantly see on TD. Course was in great shape, greens rolled perfect but could be cut lower. We ended up playing one up from the back cause one of the guys in our group is a short knocker. I was really surprised by a couple things:
1. The course is wide open, and I mean wide the frick open. It’s even more open than Bayou Oaks which is really saying something.
2. The greens have almost zero slope to them. They are perfect greens and have great shape to them but I found I rarely had to get the ball outside of the hole. Many people here were comparing them to Squire Creek which makes me think these people have never played Squire.

I can see how people were shooting 62 in the Monday qualifiers out there. Overall for $50 I thought it was a great course but my expectations were ridiculously high. I doubt I would play it for $100, $75 max on a weekend but should really be in the $50-$60 range. It’s impressive what they were able to do with a flat rice field but the views away from the course are not very good. Also, the pro shop and locker room are some of the worst I’ve ever seen for a course that’s trying to charge $100.

Nice course, will play it again but didn’t live up to the hype. Downvotes welcome

The clubhouse is a little embarrassing. Nobody will play it for 100.00, needs to be 50.00.

Did you not play 2,4,8,10,11, 17, and 18?

Excuses

Did you expect Squire Creek elevation changes through some hardwoods and pines in the middle of a sugarcane field?

I've never heard of the slope of the greens or anything about LaTour being compared to Squire Creek and I have played Squire Creek, they are two totally different golf courses.

Most Monday qualifier medalist on tour usually take 62-64 to win, I assume you broke the course record? If so congrats

I see $68 in the morning and $36 after 3 on the tee time sheet online, not $100, you are also an idiot if you don't play it for the $50 special for May. The course has been open for a month and a half almost after being closed for over 2 years, I'd suspect the guy who just bought the property outright last week will develop it and build a clubhouse with a nicer shitter down the road, I don't think he purchased it to build a nicer WalMart for Raceland.

Fair review for the most part but this

is simply not true. It's a gross exaggeration in fact. If you rarely had to get the ball outside the hole you must have been putting 2 footers all day. Now is it full of 3 tier greens with 8ft of break? No...but come on man. Never had to get the ball outside the hole? That's bullshite.

that native was so thick it was miserable a couple years ago. I for one am glad it’s wide open. Also congrats on finding one of the 4 days of the year it’s not a 2 club wind. Nice 71.
