I’m confident that most of us are anti-pedo, but if he’s doing something that interferes with the administration of justice, he’s not helping the cause.
He seems to be a nut because he’s one of those hysterics thatsees danger everywhere and stirs shite.

This has nothing to do with the administration of justice. We sequester juries in this country, so that people can freely report on the news of the day. We actually care about free speech in this country. What the UK is doing is unfathomable in this country. They routinely issue blanket prior restraints on all speech pertaining to a trial and, in the case of an alleged violation, forego a jury trial, declare a person in contempt and proceed with sentencing.

British law on this “reporting” is clear, and he chose to violate it. I also suspect that he had been warned.
Let me guess....not the same right??

What happens to you when you report the truth. This will happen here if any news agency ever nuts up, especially after Trump is out of office

Dude...you are supposedly a seasoned trial attorney...and this is the argument you can come up with? Liberals always show their true colors. Always. Your schtick as a reasoned independent couldn't last forever.

If Robinson were espousing a liberal cause, this thread would already contain a dozen references to games and their prizes.
When someone that the Forum does not like commits a crime and gets arrested, beaten, or killed, the first page of the thread will have at LEAST one "play stupid games, win stupid prizes" post.
Robinson committed a crime under British law, and the majority of this Forum rushes to his defense ... because the "other side" was an unpopular minority.
If you don't see the humor in that dichotomy, you need to take a look at the calibration on your bullshitometer.

You see...this is why I'm confused. When someone says "play stupid games", it is usually a story about someone breaking into someone else's house or taking a selfie while dangling over a cliff.
This case is about freedom of speech. It is a commentary on the U.K. And their suppression of speech. Yet, an educated advocate such as yourself, equates a discussion about suppression of speech to burglaries. You do this beacuse they are both illegal and think that makes a good comparison.
It is an awful comparison. It certainly isn't humorous.

Robinson broke British law, and he got himself a British punishment for it.

because the "other side" was an unpopular minority.
My point is that the nature of the crime is irrelevant to this discussion. He was broadcasting about a jury trial in a manner inconsistent with British law.

Yeah just think about all the conservatives that try to shut down liberal speakers when they come to their campuses.
This is the most important difference between Progs/Dims and patriotic conservatives, true libertarians and classic liberals.
We want to hear Progs/Dims express their ideology without reservations so rational Americans can understand how destructive it is to the future of America that we all love and want to preserve.
On the other hand Progs/Dims don’t want rational common sense conservatives talking to the masses, particularly the easily indoctrinated Americans under age 25, that’s why a lot of universities are off limits to conservatives. They know it would hinder their plans to recruit future voters for the Prog/Dim party.

I don't think many people would find a comparison between armed robbery and freedom of speech all that amusing. You are a weird dude. But to each his own.

quote:Yes. It gets mentioned on basically EVERY thread about the NFL Kneelers.
Has anyone ever made that statement (games/prizes) for a case involving freedom of speech?
Yes, I understand that the Kneelers (who I DO NOT support) are not engaging in "free speech" protected by the First Amendment, but neither was Robinson (as there IS NOT First Amendment in Britain).
quote:No, I am drawing an analogy. You know, "abstract thought."
Are you equating murder, burglary, etc, with freedom of speech?

Punishment by the government for speech. You use the NFL as a comparison? Good lord. You are way too worried about trying to catch "the board" being hypocritical. I'm beginning to doubt your e-persona.

But they get free Band-Aids and cough drops so this doesn't matter.
Because they have no firearms, they have no ability to push back.

Or are you one of those literalists who who cannot accept that there may be a concept of "free speech" broader than that set forth in the First Amendment?
The Kneelers do not raise a valid First Amendment issue. This does NOT mean that their scenario does NOT raise questions of "free speech" in a broader sense.
