Insomnia + curiosity made me do some math tonight. Here are the results.

1. City - 24 PTS - 8 W - 0 D - 2 L - 27 GF - 21 GA
2. United - 19 PTS - 6 W - 1 D - 3 L - 14 GF - 11 GA
3. Spurs - 13 PTS - 4 W - 1 D - 5 L - 15 GF - 16 GA
4. Chelsea - 12 PTS - 3 W - 3 D - 4 L - 9 GF - 11 GA
5. Liverpool - 10 PTS - 2 W - 4 D - 4 L - 16 GF - 21 GA
6. Arsenal - 6 PTS - 1 W - 3 D - 6 L - 10 GF - 21 GA

Discuss.

That was very much true last year and I guess a little bit in the past. This year was the complete opposite

And interestingly enough, we were also shite against the relegated teams. Took 4 points from stoke, 3 from Swansea, and 2 from WBA

I think squad depth bit Liverpool in the arse against Top 6 this year.

I mean, when the season started squad depth was fine, but the injuries started coming fast and furious and toward the end of the season we still had our primary front-line healthy (though Mane and Salah has small knocks here and there), but mid-field was decimated.

Now Stoke, Swansea, and WBA? The only explanation I can give is their style of football stifles and clogs the Klopp attack.

I can't but believe that Klopp knows he has to buy skilled forward and mid-field depth this summer.

I put 6 of the goals against (at least) on Mustafi alone

And we heard that all he did was park the bus. Right there with Spurs and Liverpool in GF...

Did no one else get 6 points against the top 6?

That is a good illustration of how good City actually were this year.

Dunno. This was just a top-6 H2H table.

If Arsenal had any sort of balance on defense wed have done much better.

To point out the obvious, any other team would have two extra games against the top 6.

Despite that fact, Everton managed 4 pts (all ties - 2 against Liverpool) GF 6 and GA 30. Definitely was Everton's year to challenge the top of the table

I think everyone's point was that your club has one of the best squads in Europe.
That caliber of player deserves more ambition. That caliber of club deserves more ambition.

Mmmm, people #onhere aren’t going to call United’s squad one of the best. They’ll just talk about how expensive it is.

Sure, but I’m also fine with not being a defensive liability against anyone decent.

Most points and goals they’ve scored since SAF’s final season, and it has a chance at a trophy. I’ll live with that and recognize that this manager is never going to come close to having the highest-scoring contender in England.
