O was assistant HC at USC and Tenn (3 years each). Career position coach. Ole Miss (yep, very bad) and his interim stints at USC and LSU before becoming HC.
Fickell was a position coach at Ohio St with a stint as the co-DC and one years as interim HC. Year one at Cincy he was 4-8. He very well may be better, but he doesn't have a great resume' full of leadership experience at this point.
I'm not defending O. Just pointing out Fickell is not a proven winner or leader at this point. He's a HC with a 33% win record in his only HC experience. 10-15 if you count interim.
And for the record:
2010 OSU with Tressel: 12-1
2011 OSU with Fickell: 6-7 (worst record since 1988)
2012 OSU with Meyer: 12-0

It’s rather amusing to watch so many people who know absolutely nothing about this kid’s intentions speculate in a manner which only confirms their preconceived biases against O and LSU.

Fickell is a friend of the Burrows. Orgeron is not. That's my main point.
If you're trying to make sense of why he would pick Fickell over O then that's as far as you need to go.
