Cole has 3 career home runs. So I like our chances.
Verlander is a 35 year old AL lifer so his ABs should be awful. And Charlie Morton needs to stand 3 feet away from the plate, take 3 strikes and go back to the dugout. I don't want him swinging a bat and I don't want him running bases. So those ABs should be about as competitive as Gattis.

The frustrating thing with white is he has raked in Fresno for two years now and last year in limited at bats did well in Houston. What else is the guy supposed to do?
Whites MO was always solid plate discipline but he didn't hit many home runs. Last year between the 2 levels he hit 28 homers and drove in 99 runs, hit for average but only walked 47 times. It looks like he's rediscovered that plate zone discipline with 22 walks already and he's still hitting for average and power.

Nobody is going to outwork tKing on improving at the plate. He has constantly adjusted before and then after his first failed MLB stint. He would be clearly much better as DH than Gattis, and I honestly do not have any rational reasoning for this change not to be made besides "we're gonna win the division and make the playoffs anyway." That excuse does not justify a proven loser - Gattis as a DH.

We saw yesterday that rational reasoning is not a factor.

This is true. The manager said that he thought a middle reliever who struggles to get strike 3 was a good matchup to close out a game. The Age of Reason is dying at MMP.

Hate group is a pretty good descriptor.

Good luck tonight against the snakes. Can't wait to get you guys in NY later this month. Maybe we'll start getting some of our players back from the DL by then and can put up a better fight. Warren, Bird, Khanlee, Frazier, Drury, etc.

Martes to DL. Was really hoping he could be a surprise addition to the bullpen at some point this season

Keep and eye on Josh James in that role.

I have a few theories on this start. They're not revolutionary thinking, but they may apply.
1) The psychology of "playing with house money" is difficult to overcome, especially for our younger players. "Resting on your laurels" is also cliche for a reason. No matter what comes out of their mouths, what's in their heads remains.
2) I really believe that this is a team that thinks that they can turn it on when they need to in order to win this division.
There are a lot of externals beyond their own control that I don't think they give enough attention to.
