I'm surprised you're not more concerned with the welfare of the collective and the cyclic nature of poverty.

Translation - he's not doing anything about poverty.

Sounds more like a money laundering scheme than anything else.

$158 Million?

Isn't that what he pays his groundskeepers and maintenance men?

That's like 1% of his net worth.

Why not fund housing? Buy food?

That's rich.

Best part about this thread is everyone telling him how he should donate his money as if anyone in this thread would ever donate to that same cause.

He is allowed to do whatever he wants with that money, however, if that is all it is going to, he might as well burn it.

Throwing a bunch of money at poverty will not fix anything. The only thing that will is when people in poverty realize it’s up to them and make the decision to better themselves instead of looking to something like government to give them a handout

Also community activists are pretty much scum

A) I have some pretty big respect for Bill Gates and his foundation. Dude puts both his money and his brain to work on the issues.

B) I do believe in systemic poverty. Kids are taught to be poor by deadbeat parents (or by their absence). You have to figure out a way to break that cycle, and that includes drying up the government teat.

And people want to say he is smart. How many TRILLIONS have the American people dedicated to poverty? If money was the answer, there wouldn’t be a problem.

Just as good as giving millions of dollar to leaders of African nations. They'll just pocket all of it and use it to fly around, stay at expensive hotels, and act important.

yep. Throwing a ton of money at poverty just makes people ok with being poor AF. The way to get people motivated is to slowly start shutting off the welfare pipeline

No, you don't. If you believe in something, you put your time into it. Money is nothing if not done correctly, and giving grants out is completely stupid and meaningless. All that does is enrich those individuals. Charities in this country are nothing but scams to enrich individuals running them.

Bill Gates could find 500 struggling non section 8 families and offer them a housing stipend as well as subsidized education and child care to help them solve their issue permanently. Would probably work better.
