I love Star Wars. But I’m also not an idiot. I realize Disney spent BILLIONS to buy the property from Lucas and they know they screwed the pooch with TLJ and had major struggles on set with Solo.
It makes financial sense forgo the marketing cost (which Disney did) and use that to buy pre ordered tickets in bulk creating a buzz. It’s the same marketing concept for apps. There is a target number that needs to be reached and the masses follow.
If it leaked that Solo had LOW LOW ticket sales (which we are anecdotally seeing in real life) it would kill the movie and FURTHER damage the franchise.
It’s Marketing 101. Not some grand conspiracy.

You guys are being ridiculous. Anyway, the films premiers next week at Cannes. We should hear how the film is received by that audience.

One single movie cannot sink Star Wars and no it doesn't damage the franchise nearly as bad as the prequels

The prequels worst thing was midiclorians to the franchise as a whole. TLJ says that everything you learned in the past was total bullshite, had an OJ Simpson chase, said “frick all males”, disgracefully kills off the greatest hero of all time, and I have no idea where the universe stands at the end of it.
