Baton Rouge's educational system defined in one picture

Shame on the EBR school members and shame on the parents of these students that attend public school in Baton Rouge.
My sister is a teacher in Baton Rouge. As an example, for Thanksgiving lunch, only a handful of parents showed up to eat with their son or daughter.
In Ascension Parish, many schools can't handle the demand and overflow of parents wanting to eat lunch with their son or daughter for Thanksgiving, Christmas or Easter. So much so, you have to pick which one you would like to attend and rank them in order in terms of your preference, should your first selection can't be accommodated.
You get what you put into it. The EBR School Board members obviously don't believe education is important to the parents of these students, because the lack of parental involvement and necessary changes needed to improve are still non-existent today. And the parents allow this type of shite to happen, because many of them don't truly care about their son or daughter's education, as they are not fully committed to developing their child into the best person that they can become. And so the cycle continues.

Can not say that I am shocked one bit. Most of the public school parents look at the school as a daycare and nothing more.

My daughter goes to private in BR and we can eat lunch with her any day that we want. I've never seen less than 10-12 parents in the cafeteria on some random Tuesday much less an event like Thanksgiving.
It's sad that some people don't give a shite about their kid's education and development. Just perpetuating the cycle of poverty.

They got it on the April ballot with hardly anything else being voted on. With only 11% turnout, they weren't worried about it not passing.

The most succinctly stated summation of education (and the problem with it these days) I've ever read was:
Education cannot given to someone. It can only be pursued by someone who has been taught to value its pursuit.

Coddling children is harmful as well.

So are parent going to eat lunch occasionally with their kid is coddling them? I used to go maybe 3 times per year when my daughter asked me too. She's 11 now and probably doesn't want me there anymore

I'm sorry but this is just strange. Coming in for a special occasion is a great thing, but just randomly coming in and having lunch with your kid on a regular basis? Wouldn't the kids be better off having lunch with each other and socializing rather than being coddled by their parents?

Wow a bunch of private school kids have parents that can afford to either not work or take time off work, and have a mode of transportation to visit school whenever they want...
Do you ever stop to think that some (most) of these EBR public school parents cannot just leave their hourly job and find a way to make it to their child's school in the middle of the day? That doesn't mean they "don't give a shite".
Sure, some of those EBR public school parents are bad at parenting. But I bet you have some bad parents at your private school as well.
