Best Write up I've seen on Davenport

The more I watch this guy, the more I like him.

I know he plays against small school guys but he blows up O lineman every single play.

The kid needs to work on disengaging but he has a violent punch.

As it’s been said repeatedly, there is a ton of unknowns with every prospect. It’s hard for me to not like this pick though. Davenport is a physical freak with a great punch, speed, and has an incredible reach to keep lineman off of him. IF he puts it all together he has the chance to be a game changer for us. I’m excited to see how he turns out. Coaching will have a lot to do with it. I look at a guy like Danielle Hunter (yes LSU homer I know) where he mentioned that his Viking coach said something to the effect of “with that speed why are you running 20 yards in a circle to get to the quarterback? Run in a straight line.” Sometimes simple things change the player dramatically.

Here’s to hoping we found a stud DE to put opposite of Cam Jordan.

I honestly liked the pick at 14, and just questioned the capital that was given up to get there. In all honesty though, I can see now why the Saints did it and are happier today with their decision probably than even last night.

Reading about this kid is quite an uplifting story. Humbleness is something that is often seen as a weakness in today's society and especially in certain cultures, but it is something that should be lauded not criticized.

This kid does what it takes to make himself better and seems extremely coachable. That is the key with these project guys. They have all the potential in the world, but need to be receptive to coaching and willing to put in the work.

When things didn't go his way, he adjusted his approach and moved forward at the Senior Bowl. That shows a ton of what you want to see out of these guys.

I think Evans and Colston were similar types of projects. Underappreciated guys that were mild-mannered and that made people underestimate them. The only difference is they were picked in later rounds. I honestly think that if people knew what they did after their rookie seasons, both of those guys would've been first rounders too.

I would have straight up told them this is a stupid question and I refuse to dignify it by picking what fruit I would want to be.

One other thing is that the Saints have taken 14 smaller school (non-FBS) kids since 2006. 8 of those have been major components on this team, a few have been busts, and a few have been contributors:

This dude is gonna bat down a lot of passes
