Go to Kisatchie National Forest...I think the campgrounds there are like $2/car/night.
ETA: I just looked it up and some of the campgrounds there are $2, some are more depending on what kind of facilities they have.

We camp for free down here at things called WMA's.

State parks at Toledo Bend cost 18 bucks a night. Are you sure you are looking at primitive sites and not trailer and rv campsites? We reserve rv sites at south Toledo state park for 25 bucks a night.

Enjoy your tent camping in TX and getting robbed by Illegals.
I pay the requisite $9 fee and Camp at an unimproved site.

It costs to have people to empty trash cans, keep up the grounds, security, etc. Plus keeps the trash out as well.

Do you hunt or fish? If so, you can camp on a WMA for free, and they have them all over the state.
May as well pitch a tent in your backyard if you are going to a SP.

There used to be camping out by Pearl River, in MS, just over the state line.
We called them" the islands" because you had to take your boat across to get to the beach on the other side. The privacy there was great. No one but us (and we had a group of about a dozen couples, all friends).
I'd love to find a place like that again to go visit again.

Go to a Wildlife Mgmt Area. As long as you have either a hunting or fishing license, WMA’s are free to use and many of them have tent camping areas. If you don’t have a fishing or hunting license then you can buy a Wild Louisiana stamp for like $2 to be able to use the WMA for hiking or camping.
