Blind dog and guide dog reunited after one is found 100 miles away
Basically a bonded pair of dogs were surrendered to the local animal control because their owner could no longer take care of them. Animal control put them up on their Facebook page hoping to find someone willing to adopt both because of their bond. Someone adopts both, then a couple of days later the blind Dachshund was found 100 miles away wandering around the streets by a local and brings it to their local animal control. Since the dog is microchipped, the information points back to Richmond animal control, which finds out and is not happy about the situation.
RACC contacts the person who agreed to adopt both dogs, person first claims a friend was taking care of the blind dog. Finally the person admits to only wanting to adopt the pit and didn't want the blind Dachshund so they dumped the dog. Someone on Facebook or Reddit (can't remember which one) doxxes the person who adopted the two dogs, which led to the Facebook post by RACC letting people that both dogs have been reunited and are awaiting someone new to adopt them both.

A blind dog and its guide dog were adopted together, but shortly afterwards, the blind dog, OJ, was found wandering alone. RACC then contacted the person who adopted the two dogs. That person has now turned over the guide dog, Blue Dozer.

That pit looks like its already ate a small child.

This is going to be controversial here because it shows a pit in a good light.
But some people do suck.

Sounds like something a pit owner would do.

Dachshunds are the worst dog breed there is. That being said it takes a real POS to dump a dog on the streets.

A blind dog you just paid money to adopt from a shelter. There's something real low about that.

I've never heard of a dog having a guide dog. That's awesome.

It takes a real cold hearted son of a bitch to do that.

I've had a few, and they were great. My first was the most fun. She would go nuts if she heard a bag of mini marshmallows open up.
There are two downsides, if you want to call them that...spine issues (had the vet I worked for do neck surgery on one) and they can be somewhat stubborn. The blame for that is because they are hounds.
You have to be some kind of slime to dump a blind one.

They’re real sweet dogs no denying that. But they are stubborn as shite. I had a friend with dachshunds that flat out refused to not piss and shite in the house when he was gone. (They even had a doggie door)

Mine is almost 10 and she does this still. she goes on a pad at night, but by god if I don't get up to let her out first thing, shes gonna do it in the dining room floor, every time

My dachschunnd is 10, never shits or pisses in the house. I saw him hold it over 36 hours one time in Cleveland because it was -3 outside with 50 mph winds. Loves to fish and will fight a Lion. Roscoe is bad arse.

I'm currently in South Texas but will be passing through Houston at the end of May. I'll buy you lunch at Sonic.

If I lived in Richmond I'd adopt both.

It's really sad that resources are so tight that rescues are unable to properly vet potential adopters. And even if there was a thorough application process in place, some people are still liars.
