And this fact is an even bigger problem than people want to admit.
Not only does it look like they have not progressed. Does any honest person think this staff can coach them up?
Well, I'll say that McMillan looks like he has developed a ton. Those guys look a lot like McMillan did a year or two ago.
With McMillan, I think we are seeing a guy who is in a scheme that fits him well. Brennan looks like the opposite. Narcisse looks like he just has a long way to go.

Surely our 3rd string qb is not gonna be this years starter?
That's what Texas Tech said. And he was a walk on. This may go down as another of the Rant's great prognostications along with:
Fournette does not run hard
Russell Shepard will never make the NFL
Anthony Johnson will never make the NFL
Al Woods will never make the NFL
Myles Brennan is the hands down starter at QB. Its not even close

All I want is someone to emerge as our QB by the season and lead us to victories. Don’t have a favorite among the three. Since this thread is about McMillan, here are a few thoughts.
Other than being left-handed, he reminds me somewhat of Herb Tyler. Not the most imposing physical QB, but a gamer. I believe he led his TX high school team to consecutive state titles at one of the top HS school classifications, and played for a third. I don’t there are many who have accomplished that feat. If we can just have a QB who can manage the game, dink and dunk us down the field, with the occasional shot down the field, and control the ball, keeping our likely nasty defense fresh, I think we can win some games and surprise people. Sounds a lot like the recipe we followed with Mauck and Flynn on our way to those last two nattys. I think McMillan has as much chance as any of the three to get that done. Again, don’t care which of the three can get the above done, but that is what we need.

"Why not McMillan?"
Because Narcisse and Brennan are part of the Orgeron era. Orgeron signed them in his first class. Both were highly rated and he needs one of them to be the QB for LSU for the next several years. It doesn't help Orgeron at all if he has Year 1 with Etling and Year 2 with McMillan when he was brought in specifically because the previous regime couldn't develop the QB position.
I think there is 0% chance McMillan is the starter unless Narcisse and Brennan are injured.

Are you really suggesting that O is gonna pick his starting QB based on appearances?
If the 2 young guys aren't ready, you think O will just throw them out there and take his lumps to a 6-6 season just to show that he’s got a QB for the next few years?
I think he’s a little more worried about keeping his job in the short term to worry about the long term. If McMillan is the best player, he will play. Appearances don’t mean shite.
O is in a situation where he needs to win games in 2018 or there might not be a 2019 for him to worry about.
The best QB will play regardless of ratings out of HS or long term stability.

lets assume McMillan were the best QB of the three. you really think Orgeron would sacrifice winning games with the best QB of the three to start one of "his guys" ?
that sounds asinine.
that sounds asinine.

I absolutely believe Orgeron will hitch his wagon to Brennan or Narcisse. You would be blind to think McMillan has a better chance at leading LSU to wins than Brennan or Narcisse in 2018. McMillan only starts if those two are injured. Maybe if McMillan were at least as good as Danny Etling then he could get into the conversation. McMillan was beat out by Brennan last year as a true freshman. He's been beat out by Brandon Harris, Etling, Brennan.
He isn't going to be in the running for #1 or #2 this season. It will be Brennan or Narcisse.
This is like that QB Chris Garrett from 10yrs ago. He played in a spring game too. He isn't going to ever be a starter at LSU unless there's an injury to Brennan and Narcisse.

You can't ignore the fact that these 2 guys aren't ready (assuming that's the case).

I would have agreed before I saw the Spring game. Now, I'd say it is highly unlikely either Brennan or Narcisse is the starter. Both of those guys are going to have to take 2-3 steps forward between now and end of fall. I just don't think that's realistic.

Everybody chill out. There will be no concrete shoes this year.

My gosh. Look at what we have become. Look at what we’re willing to settle for.

He isn't the best of the three. So the assumption is asinine. Brennan already beat him out last year when he was 170lbs and was barely out of high school. Narcisse is the only one that will challenge Brennan.

JM liked the most comfortable. 2 crucial things to stop/polish up on: he DOES NOT need to do the "oh, shite!" 360 in the pocket when in the face of pressure.
His slants were late. Has got to get that ball out quicker. I saw a little of Marcus Randall 2.0
Some of the good and the bad.

Everyone needs to relax. We saw a 2 hour scrimmage under controlled situations with most of the O line missing, not the entire QB battle. I don’t think it’s settled until opening kickoff vs Miami. If it’s McMillan under Center, I don’t think that means the other 2 QB s won’t play. I think u see a 2 QB system this year anyway

Look at the first pass of the spring game from McMillan. He's a scrambling version of Brandon Harris without the arm strength. There's no accuracy. And he's less physically intimidating than Narcisse as a runner.
I'm amazed that anyone thinks McMillan has any shot at all of starting without an injury to both QBs.

If McMillan WINS the job, so be it. I’ll be all in on TEAM McMillan. The kid was a straight WINNER in Tx. Let him do it again.

so McMillan is incapable of improvement??
now THAT sounds asinine.

JM has good arm strength (reference that 30 yrd back shoulder throw to Dee Anderson).
And it amazes me that some think he doesn't have a shot to start!!!
There may be some seriously disappointed ppl on TR!!! Just saying...
