Can you play too much golf?

Typically, the more the better right? Since the time has changed I get out a lot more after work. Sometimes get in 4-5 rounds a week.
I haven't really seen my scores drop and if anything, I'm starting to get worse. Is there a happy medium somewhere? Not sure if the more you play you lose focus or if your body is tired which messes with the swing?

You are getting lazy while playing and are developing bad habits. You have got to put a bet on the line to keep yourself fresh. Bet against yourself, play 2 balls. Make the punishments hurt. No beer tonight if I don't break 80, so on.

Thats a really good idea, I'd never go as far as no beer but pushups or something would be good

I usually play in a money game (not for a lit), but when I play with my dad and brother for fun, I make bets like this in my head.
In Destin, I wanted to break 80 at the Raven. I made myself the bet of no booze on the beach if I didn't. I had to make better than a double on 18 to break 80. I was shaking over the tee shot. I stripped one down the middle and left myself 150 in.It was awesome, and my brother had no clue why I was freaking out over that 9 iron.

gotta stay focused on every shot.
Its hard to do, but every shot needs a 100% of your attention.

Not if your swing is bad. Doesn’t matter how much you play

Only possible after you have too much money.

I try to stay focused only 85% at the range. That way during actual play, i'm 15% better than what i strive to be at the range.

Your short game and feel should improve but if you’re just whacking it around aimlessly and playing somewhat mindlessly, there Isn’t a correlation in pulsing and scores dropping.

I took off basically all winter.
Played in a tourn 2-3 weeks ago hit balls two days and played 27 holes Friday.
Hitting it as good as I ever have.
I'm 4-5 handicap.
Layoff was longest I've had since I started 20 yrs ago.
I watch golf and think about it pretty much all time.

I think so. My best round of the year is usually my first round once I pick the clubs up again. Normally around February after a 4-5 month hiatus.
After that, I get really into it and play a lot. My scores get worse. I start thinking about my swing and trying to fix shite.
I don't have any advice for you. Just know that you're not alone
