Do they sell knives? Better get rid of those.

I thought they stopped selling them years ago?

Forgive my ignorance, but is there some new regulation that says these must be destroyed, or is this just poor wording intending to convey that the existing process itself is regulated?

No. What they're saying is basically that they aren't just throwing them away because.........well........obviously that would probably be bad.
The Fed almost certainly has regulations on disposal of weapons

Why not just do this quietly unless they tried to and it didn’t work?
So stupid from a business standpoint.

In all seriousness, if they want to enact this policy, why not donate the rifles to Police forces? Second, who do they think they are benefiting? All they are doing is alienating their clientele. No San Francisco SJW shops at Dick's.
Thank you Dick. That means the manufactures will make more to replace the inventory destroyed. Dick could have unloaded the weapons to another vendor.

I was about to go on a rampage. Thank you Dick’s for saving me from myself.

Seems like it would be pretty boring, but I guess sky screamers don't have a sense of humor or taste in entertainment anyway.

Shareholders must be livid with such stupidity. SJWs don't play sports and they don't shop at Dicks. They go to Patagonia for their gear and to REI and they hike and look around for granola.

Very good idea. Shoot them an email and see if they get back to you about it.

What are their prices? For say a box of 124 grain 9mm?

So, let get this straight.
A store that caters to HUNTERS, SHOOTERS of all kinds, fishermen, and outdoorsmen in general is gonna take a bunch of it inventory off the shelves that would interest the previously mentioned customers.
That would be like McDonald's refusing to make cheeseburgers.

McDonald’s cheeseburgers are more harmful than guns.

Sounds like destroying valuable inventory is right in line with their terrible business model.
