Versus fat people. Seems like you get a pass for making skinny jokes to someone

Skinny joke example, Fran is getting all the leftovers, she needs to eat. Look how skinny she is. (Everyone laughs)

Fat joke example: June doesn't get leftovers look how big she is (Silence)

Are fat people not as thick skinned as skinny people when it comes to jokes?

See when people make fun of skinny people, everyone knows it's jealousy.

Making fun of fat people is just good clean fun.

As a person that grew up skinny, I never really cared if a comment was made. But if a fat person ever said something, my only response was “enjoy the diabetes”.

What's funny is how often people make those "skinny jokes" to people who aren't skinny at all. Social conditioning for fatness is real.

I was so skinny a cpl of years ago, people asked me if the veins running from my pelvis to stomach were fallopian tubes. True OT story.

There happens to be an overweight lady at my work and someone mentioned how busy was said "she just has a lot on her plate" and to me that was an opening to a fat person joke but just led me to ponder this subject

It has nothing to do with the target just societal views of each extreme that decide how the target should take the criticism and because when envy is present it will draw that criticism more. People only want to root for who they see as the underdog in life in general

Been very thin my whole life. Didn't really thicken up at all until the last couple of years and I'm still very thin.

I don't give a frick.

When I was a kid, the mother of a boy on our street would always try to feed my brother, and I. She would tell us we were too skinny, and needed to sit down and eat whatever she had. Always loved going to their house because they had any, and every, kind of snack.
