Tiger did what he did with titanium, perfect balance; tuned clubs.

Jack used true wood clubs and a crappy putter.

For better or worse I can’t say, but environmental landscaping has come a long way. Mower machinery has improved.

Has to be Jack. He did more with less in all aspects. Playing some of the same courses

was jack using inferior equipment than the guys he was playing against? Did Tiger use better equipment than the guys he was playing against? Improvement in landscaping has made courses more difficult, not easier.

You can’t ne compare generations on most sports, but I think golf is the most relative. Same courses and game essentially yet scoring has not drastically improved in 50 years

so then how does Tiger have the 6 highest adjusted scoring averages in the history of golf? If scoring hasn't improved, as you stated, then that makes Tiger Woods' numbers even more impressive. And if scoring averages haven't improved then that basically renders your previous post regarding equipment deficiencies moot.

Pointing to Phil as Tiger's only competition basically makes the argument for Tiger. Jack allowed that many other people to be competitive...

Well this is just stupid

Tiger was hurt for long stretches, and which group of golfers rose to the top when he wasn't playing? None, that's who

Jack was fending off some of the best golfers in history. Week in and week out, over a healthy junk of his career

It's still Jack. 18>14. Tiger from 2000 to 2002 was the best three year stretch any golfer has ever had but Jack had the better career. Sure the 18-14 is relatively close but let's move to runner-up finishes in majors. Tiger 6, Bear 19. Let me repeat that, 19. Top 3 finishes in majors Tiger 24, Bear 48. Keep in mind Nicklaus was playing at the same time Gary Player was winning nine majors, Tom Watson was winning eight, Arnold Palmer was winning seven and Lee Trevino was winning six. Tiger played the same time Phil was winning five, Ernie was winning four (one of those pre-Tiger) and no one else was winning more than three. Add in all that and the question is easy to answer for me. There was a period where Tiger was the most dominant golfer ever but when you add up all the periods both played Nicklaus was better.

Its Jack. If Tiger’s career had not gone off a cliff, it probably would have been him. Still has a little time to pull it off though and he looks a lot better this year then we have seen him in a long time.

It's Tiger. Jack played tougher competition but Tiger changed the game. He was the MJ of golf. Nothing was more absolute than peak Sunday Tiger. Period. They didn't "Jack proof" courses.

Its absolutely hilarious to me people use this as an argument to back up Nicklaus. It really just proves how small the depth of the field was back then. If you weren’t an elite golfer, you were going somewhere else to make a living.

Jack didn't have all the men acting like teenage school girls when he played.

Tiger > Jack

It’s Jack...and it’s not even close.

Major Championships = Jack
Runner ups = Jack
Top 5 = Jack
Competition = Jack

How can anybody can suggest It’s Tiger at this point????

Tiger did more for the game than Jack did, golf today is because of Tiger. I still think that Jack, considering his performances on the biggest stages, makes him better.

Arnold Palmer did more for the game than either one of them.

11 time player of the year
79 career wins
40 European wins
Career money leader
2 Fed Ex Cups

People are going to argue Tiger because a lot of people didn't grow up on Jack. He had the better career but he isn't the better golfer at all.

Only golfer to win all 4 majors in a row, most weeks at number 1 & consecutively. The list goes on and on and on and on.
