Big week - need to go 4-0

Not their ace. He’s been the midweek starter all year. Still a tough matchup. Hopefully we can get some timely hits.

I have no idea how good their starter is, but his 7 games started are against McNeese(2), Little Rock(2), ULM(2), and NWST. His record is 2-1.

I saw the kid pitch against McNeese. He’s solid. They have strong pitching this year and he’s the 4th man. He’s got a mid to upper 80’s fastball and a really nice curve ball. He seems to give up some hits but works with runners on well also. We can beat him but it won’t be a walk in the park.

From Dandy's this morning:

LSU (20-13, 6-6 SEC) returns to action tonight with a 6:30 p.m home contest against Louisiana Tech. The Bulldogs (24-10, 9-3 CUSA) are off to a strong start this year and can’t be taken lightly.

This past weekend, they capped a series win at UTSA with a 13-0 run-rule win in San Antonio. They also swept Rice earlier in the season and defeated Texas A&M in a midweek game.

LSU will send freshman right-hander AJ Labas to the mound for the contest and LA Tech will counter with junior southpaw David Leal who has been outstanding this year, as you’ll see in his stats below:

PITCHING MATCHUP:
LSU – Fr. RH AJ Labas (3-1, 2.73 ERA, 26.1 IP, 4 BB, 18 SO)
La Tech – Jr. LH David Leal (2-1, 1.65 ERA, 49.0 IP, 5 BB, 46 SO)

Let's just hope Labas is throwin' strikes and LSU batters are hittin' dingers. We need this win.

Last year in JUCO Leal struck out just under a batter an inning (75 K, 76.1 innings).

He had a 1.414 WHIP in those 76.1 innings and an ERA over 5.

We just need to take advantage when we get guys on base.

ETA: He only walked 12 in 76.1 innings last year and 5 in the 49 innings this year. So he's going to throw strikes. He's got a .250 BABIP against. NCAA average is .325. At some point the batted balls will fall in for hits, why not tonight?
