Something we all can agree on.

The man is an NBA coach coaching college basketball.

Make it rain.

can we add a new GM to this too?

Because I mean, any coach with Dell's decision making is going to have issues.

1. No Depth due to only top end talent
2. Ignoring SF for a decade
3. Poor $$$ management
4. No picks to ever develop cheap talent

I wish. Don’t think Gentry is going anywhere even if we miss the playoffs

IF we miss the playoffs after where we were a week and a half ago, fire Gentry’s arse.

Would be an excellent hire.

But I think Boogie going down gave Uncle Al a pass regardless if we make the playoffs or not

missing the playoffs this year will be a blessing in disguise if we get rid of Gentry and hire someone like Wright

Saw similar people clamoring after Kevin Ollie after his title, pretending to know what coaching entails. So, enlighten me: What makes people so sure Wright would be a terrific NBA head coach?

Give me specifics. Don't tell me that he has won. Tell me about his system, his psychology with players and why that would transfer, the way he runs a coaches room, etc, etc

Some of the actual things that make NBA coaches difference makers. Or, just tell me he won and you have recency bias, the same way you did with Kevin Ollie.

I do not watch much college ball, but aren't his offensive philsophies similar to Finch in a lot of ways? Players say that they only have a handful of basic plays. He teaches offensive concepts and give the players the freedom to implement those concepts without set plays/actions. These cocnepts work to get players open on cuts and screens. Similar to Warriors, Pels, Lakers...etc offenses and very much in line with the positionless basketball trend.

Wright's offense is random and unscripted with lots of ball movement and cuts based on reading the defense much like Finch implemented in Denver and here. It also relies on versatile bigs, so his offense should be suited to the Boogie/AD pairing with both AD and Boogie having the requisite skillset to interchange between slot big and post big.

I think with the Pels he would suffer from the same roster construction problems we have had this year in that our penetrators can't shoot and our shooters can't penetrate.

And "System" isn't even 20% of coaching.

People think that X's and O's are what make the great coaches.

Every coach knows the same plays, the same systems. There are no tactical geniuses out here. This isn't the NFL.

Being a great head coach is about being a great Psychologist. And even if you are that, you have to be in an organization that has the structure that matches up with how you want to work your players. If Pop or Brad Stevens go to Sacramento today, they don't succeed for a few years. Because the organizational culture would have to be completely changed.

Long story short - a coach really doesn't do much on his own. He is part of the larger organizational picture. All the higher ups have to be on the same page, as do the assistants. They all work together to form a culture that either works or doesn't. Its not about X's and O's or rotations. Those are just the things YOU see, but they are like 2% of the reason for success or failure in the NBA

You have to convince Cousins to resign and who the coach is going to be certainly will be part of the equation. The last 4 "smart" coaches hired all seem like their doing pretty well, Stevens, Snyder, Atkinson and Brett Brown, but all of them went to places without the kind of expectations next year's Pels will have. It takes time to figure out how to be a head coach. And to be the Pels head coach you have to know how to get the most out of both AD and Jrue and Rondo and Cousins. I would imagine both sets of players require very different approaches and handling and the coach/player power dynamic between college and pros is completely different. It just seems like a pretty difficult situation to drop a coach with no NBA experience into.
