These are his comments about what he's looking for in a school

quote:

quote: “My plan going into college is starting,” Emery explained. “I don’t want to be a No. 2. I want to be No. 1. I also have to think about the long-term and making it to the league. I don’t want my body beat up, so that’s something I need to look at. “I feel like I should be that No. 1 like Leonard Fournette [at LSU] and the amount of carries he got each game. I don’t want to be Derrius Guice when Fournette was playing. I plan on starting and that’s the goal I have set up. I plan on starting when I go to college and doing big things. I don’t plan on being No. 2 or being a part of a duo. However, I’ll play my part, but my goal is eventually to be No. 1 for sure.”

Personally I'll pass on a kid like this because usually they don't pan out anyway. I know it's supposed to be on the recruiting board but I can't post on there so dwi.

Wait he wants to be the number 1 and get all the carries but you don’t want to be beat up and worn down . Kid wtf... I’ll sacrifice losing Emery if it means we get Cain, Tyrion and someone else .

Guess he wants to be Marcus Lattimore. That dude had an amazing future ahead of him but South Carolina rode him like a prized race horse and a couple gruesome leg shots ended his career .

My advice is don’t hang on every word a recruit says. You’ll live a happier life.

I like his determine to want to be the #1 back, but sharing the rock is going to be a huge role. Especially as a freshman.

conflicting goals... I'll pass. I think he will end up settling on a place that is a face saver. It was my opinion from other things I have read that he wants to get out of state.

He should go to Vanderbilt. He'll be the no. 1 back and he won't get all beat up because an offensive drive will only consist of 3 plays followed by a punt. The offense will spend 3/4 of the time on the sidelines.

I wouldn't want a recruit that wanted to be a backup!

This kid needs to shut his damn mouth and prove that he’s worth a shite outside of high ball before he makes demands like this. Will be in juco after 1 year

eh, disagree.

I read this as 'goals', not 'selection process'.

However, if this is a big part of deciding where he is going, and I admit it could be interpreted that way, then there are issues. IF he's saying he wants to be the only back signed in a year, there are issues.

The line about not getting beat up sandwiched between those two statements is befuddling. RBs everywhere get beat up; Especially in the SEC. His durability is something WE consider, not something HE can avoid.

If he wants to be the 'featured back' AND it is his GOAL to earn it... I'm in. (and that's how I'm interpret this).

NOTE: author did quote him, so I'm assuming penmanship or miscommunication is not an issue here

Think it's pretty clear he doesn't want to go to LSU, and he's just creating criteria that LSU can't satisfy, instead of coming out and just saying he doesn't want to be here.

I'll take Cain and Davis in a HEARTBEAT. Emery can go to Kansas and be the feature back.

That whole quote contradicts itself. I'll pass in any child that wants to play major college football and demand to be #1 before he commits!

Dont want to be part of a duo? Haul ads to McNeese or ULLLLLLLLL

He's a kid and a kids mind changes with the wind. People have to understand that questions are being asked to these kids and they are giving kid answers, which is why it doesn't make much sense. I'll leave it up to our coaches to show him the way. If LSU were to get all 3 of these top 10 backs, which could happen, then they will all be featured, and won't have much wear and tear, which is exactly what he's looking for. Perfect for LSU IMO. He will have to come in and put in work to beat out who's already here and who will come in with him.

IMO they should RS all 3 unless we need one or two of them. We'll see what we have this year but I think the backs we already have will surprise people. LSU probably got the best all around back in the country last year. Power, good cutting ability, some speed, can catch, and block. LSU has some great backs. They just aren't national names.

LSU needs to continue to focus on shoring up the CB position, QB position, and develop an offense. We do that and everything will fall into place. We have some of the best recruiters/coaches on staff now. They all have help and can focus efforts on the players and future players instead of game planning for the season. Huge advantage that we didn't have previously. Better coaches, better recruiters, and more help should take us where we want to be.

How about seeing if you can be a productive back in major college football first before saving your body for the NFL.
