Baltimore Gas & Electric Co. (Baltimore, Md.) - $134.06

Progress Energy Florida (St. Petersburg, Fla.) - $131.52

We-Energies (Milwaukee, Wis.) - $131.05

Alabama Power Co. (portions of Alabama) - $109.78

Memphis Light & Gas Water Division (Memphis, Tenn.) - $102.12

Entergy Louisiana, LLC - $99.18

Florida Power & Light Co. (Miami, Fla., and portions of Florida) - $96.97

City Public Service (San Antonio, Texas) - $95.38

Georgia Power Co. (Atlanta, Ga.) - $95.37

Entergy has some of the lower rates in the country on average. We are just unfortunate to live in an area that is either hot as frick or cold as frick with little in between.

You don't live in area that's ever cold as frick.

My January bill for a 3 br 2.5 bath home was just shy of $400... a family member's was $600.

Energy rates in the Deep South are cheap af.

Texas has deregulation. Our electric bill for February was $43, January was $45, March should be right around the same. Highest bill ever was $145. 2 story 2,450 sq ft home in Houston. Its a pain to shop around every year for a new provider and pick the right plan with like 64 different companies and 100's of plans. But cheap energy can be found quite easily. People do get higher rates in Houston when they let their current plan extend beyond the contract period and it goes into a higher variable rate.

You should travel a bit more in the winter. South Louisiana does not get that cold.
