Neil Degrasse Tyson was asked a question about whether or not aliens would be hostile toward us. His explanation was that a civilization that advanced wouldn't bother to. They would have the capability of harvesting the energy from their own solar system with their technology and wouldn't have the need to conquer other systems. In my opinion there's nothing that we could really do for them that could be of any benefit. Their tech would be so advanced it would probably be like trying to teach a dog how to do computer programming. But that's one scientists theory. Hawkins believed aliens would destroy us if we encountered them.

The fact that the earth will be unlivable in 1 Billion years, even though me and everyone I ever know will certainly be dead, and the fact that it's farther into the future than we have existed as a species, still scares the shite out of me.

Yeah but whats there really to be scared of? Earth is 4.5 billion years old and humans are only a couple hundred thousand years old, so all this shite was happening way before we came around and that wasnt scary for us. Why should it be scary to us after were gone?

I feel the same. I know it's irrational, but thinking about the inevitability of stuff like that gives me anxiety and I have a very worry-free personality

were only 1% smarter than monkeys. So if we meet a life form thats only 1% smarter than we are, theyre going to look at us the way we look at monkeys.
