I figure that LSU "fans" that start threads like this are jack legs that couldn't get into UL and so became sidewalk LSU fans.
I don't have to apologize for being fans of both schools.
But you are correct--UL is a fine university--with a campus not falling down around the ears, unlike LSU's. You'd figure the right-wing jack legs in the legislature and among Louisiana's populace would care more about the "flagship" university.
UL is a university with close to 20K enrollment in the cleanest, most cultured city in the state. Lafayette is rightly noted as one of the best small-mid-sized cities in the nation.
UL isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

The UL folk try hard to justify why UL is somehow competitive with LSU, but they never will be. If Akron beat Ohio State in baseball on a Wednesday night, it does not mean they are the same tier of university or athletics.
People just love something to bitch about, and people in Lafayette love to bitch about all the problems in Baton Rouge and that Lafayette is somehow better.
