What’s a good strategy for Fortnite?

This is the first week ive been playing it and I get shite on very quickly. I consider it a small miracle if I get a couple kills without dieing. Camping doesn’t work good at all, but neither does anything it seems like

I'm against the jumping. Well I jump at the beginning. But you already know your opponent will be jumping so his aim will be off...
I'm more of a one jump then strafe and crouch and uncrouch over and over. Easier for you to aim and just wait for them to land. Your aim will be consistent while there's will not

always be above whos shooting at you. build aggressively never defensively. go for some off the wall jumping kamakazi shite, youll get better

Jump to the same spot consistently. We jump to 1 of 3 locations depending on where the bus is coming from. If you're not comfortable racking kills then pick spots that are less popular locations. The longer your initial flight the less likely you'll have to fight it out early

Once you die, stick around and watch till the end. You'll see how people win. Seems to me, and I still get blasted quite frequently so take my advice with a grain of salt, but you need to be quick at building. The people that win can throw up some good defenses quickly. It seems they spam the build keys to get a really random "base" going, but maybe there's a method to their madness.

Find a way to play that suites you.
When I’m running from circle to circle, I like to hang around for a minute and see if anyone is cutting it close with the storm then pick them off. If you’re already in the circle, build a defense.
Top 10 finishes is really just playing with some common sense and strategy. Getting top 5s and wins, takes a little bit of skill.

there is, but dont let it ruin the game for you, people are playing with keyboard and mouse on console
its so much faster for building

When you're new go for kills, not wins. The only way you're gonna get comfortable building and fighting is by doing it. I recommend being aggressive constantly until you're really comfortable with all aspects, and then go for wins
I know it sounds dumb but if you just hide or play passive forever you're never gonna be able to win battles

I play on PC. My keyboard has the F keys all screwed up so that you have to press function first, which really throws off my building and makes me a half spec slower than everyone else. So I camp wherever I can find shelter mostly. I’ve never made it to the end, but I’ve been in the teens.

buy a mouse with side buttons. i have 3 for wall, ramp and floor/ceiling, 1 that switches me to weapon 3 ( where I keep my AR) and one for push to talk.
