"you're going to hell if you go to a church with the wrong name over the door."
No one, especially not me said that.
But technically... A little leaven Leaventh the whole loath.
Once you allow error in small things then it escalates. It is the slippery slope argument.
The same is described many times in both Proverbs and the Psalms.
From Psalms 1
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
This describes the progression of unfaithfulness.

Paul was hung up on it too.
I'm not seeing where Paul either a) concluded that hell awaited anyone who went to a church with the wrong title or b) had the requisite authority to make that determination regarding a salvation prerequisite in the first place.

Slippery slope to what? How church division leads to departure from Christ?
Based on what?

so you stick to the exact word of the bible? so do you eat pork? see where i am going with this bullshite.
The law was nailed to the cross.
Peter was shown in the vision of the sheet where all manner of unclean things appeared and he was told to eat.
He refused an Jesus told him what I call clean call though not unclean.
Of course this was a lesson that us Gentiles could also receive the promise but a further scripture applies directly.
For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.”

Jesus would want everybody to have a gun
Yes, he would.
"Then Jesus asked them, "When I sent you out to preach the Good News and you did not have money, a traveler's bag, or an extra pair of sandals, did you need anything?" "No," they replied.
But now,” he said, “take your money and a traveler’s bag. And if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one!"

The best policy for churches to have to reduce violence is to find new ways to reach people. They need to go out and get the gospel to people. That needs to be their #1 policy.

It's an ongoing fight, but there are still some conferences (like the one I'm in) that stand behind God's Word.

Do you have a problem with women behind the pulpit?
I don't but the bible does...
1st Corinthians 14:33,34
For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law
That is Paul's view. Not God.

Methodists are usually upper middle class SJWs

If churches would only start being thermostats again instead of thermometers, this wouldn't be necessary. Churches need to buck up instead of placating their congregations.

Not really true in the Southeast.
More commonly, as someone else said, it's a church of anecdotes and how to be a nice person while expanding your business network.
I attend a very Christ-centered UMC church, which coincidentally is in a pretty moneyed area. UMC is pretty blatant about sending progressives to progressive churches and more "conservative" (not necessarily politically, but often the case) to the more traditional congregations.
It's pretty depressing to witness, and puts congregants in a bind. I don't want to put politics above faith, but I also don't want to support an institution that does so (and particularly putting politics which I think are at times at odds with Christianity above the faith).

And you know this how?
Scripture does not support your view.
It is apparent that many who embrace error discount the wittings of Paul.
While at the same time find their ability to be "Christians", given that most of us are Gentiles specifically because of the writings of Paul.
This goes to the start of the argument. People choose divisions/denominations because they wish to do what is right in their own eyes.
They refuse to do as commanded.
As scripture says wide is the road to destruction and narrow is the gate to salvation and few there be who find it.
As for me and my house we will serve the Lord and we will err on the side of scripture.

Unfortunately, this is chicken-egg IMO. In many instances, the church is pushing the congregation, just not in a Christ-centric way.

If you don't start with the truth then you are left with blind leaders of the blind.
