27. New Orleans Saints

QB Lamar Jackson, Louisville – The Saints take the chance here and try to strike gold. They have a young team, but Drew Brees will need a replacement soon and putting Jackson in that backfield down the line seems intriguing.

Of all the things that will never happen, this will never happen the most.

I’m fine with it. Drum up as much noise as you can about him going to the Saints. Then come draft night, make someone pay to jump you or swap with you and get extra picks.

As far as selecting Jackson for this team, I’d rather not.

He is an outstanding athlete and would be excellent with the RPO offense. He could be the next great face of New Orleans Saints!

There are four picks in the first that would make me hit the ceiling. Picking a RB, K, P and Lamar Jackson.

Would not be upset with the Saints drafting the QB of the future but I just don't think Jackson is the guy.

I don't give any draft site and credibility until after free agency.

If we sign Brees to a 3 yr. Deal then no way we draft a qb in te first.

Also any team looking for a qb in the top 10 that lands Cousins or maybe even Keenum will not be drafting one.

To play devil's advocate, I know he wants to be a QB, but, we could utilize him right away as a Denard Robinson type. Athlete in space type deal just to get him on the field while also continuing to learn under Brees.

Certainly not an ideal 1st round pick, but I think he'd be better than wasting another 3rd or later rounder on a project QB who won't ever see the field.

NFL teams asking Lamar Jackson to work out as a wide receiver

Posted by Michael David Smith on March 2, 2018, 9:01 AM EST PFT

quote:

Lamar Jackson was a Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback at Louisville, but some teams think he’ll be better off changing positions in the NFL.

That’s why Jackson has been asked to work out both as a quarterback and as a wide receiver at the Scouting Combine, according to Peter Schrager of NFL Network.

quote:

Multiple teams have made that request, but it’s unclear whether Jackson will comply.

Jackson wants to play quarterback, but the question is whether some team could convince him he’d be a higher pick at wide receiver. Matt Jones, who played quarterback at Arkansas, worked out at wide receiver at the Scouting Combine and put on a show, and he ended up going in the first round of the 2005 NFL draft.

But Jackson was a much better college quarterback than Jones was, and it wouldn’t be surprising if Jackson takes the position that he’s done enough as a passer that he doesn’t need to consider changing positions — even if that stance hurts his draft stock, in some teams’ eyes.

Nope. Don't want a projected WR backing up Drew.

Do the Saints always have the worst draft predictions?
Seems that way year after year.

He should absolutely switch. He’s a special athlete.

The odds of run/pass qb working out long term in nfl(especially small ones) are very slim.

Accuracy is generally the best barometer for future NFL success, and Lamar was just not very accurate at all in college. Cam is big enough to take the beating, I don't think Lamar is.

That may be the worst mock pick in history.

Guy is a huge question mark that has a very high likelihood of being shifted from QB to another position in the league, yet they think the Saints pick him with a 1st rounder?

This. His agent just needs to point out Terrelle Pryor compared to RG3.

This simply isn't happening. We are 1-3 impact guys away (depending on position) from being the clear favorite in the NFC. We are too close to a Super Bowl to take a project, especially Jackson who's nowehere near ready, in the first round. Go get a pass rusher or a LB who can run side to side and let's win another Super Bowl.
