Long story short, someone sent me a text of a screen shot from someone's FB page. This person, who is "trashy" by OT standards, was talking about some wedding and evidently the groom almost got in a fight with one of the bridesmaids boyfriend, because he was drunk and said something about the groom and a situation that happened with some girl he use to date (it was trashy shite)..

Anyway, anyone ever really been to a wedding that turned into a complete shite show? The worse one I think I went to was one in which the bride went into the bathroom and cried because a lot of people who were invited didn't show up, but nothing major.

I've been to weddings where I knew the marriage would be a complete disaster. Does that count?

My little sister had an outdoor wedding on a peninsula at a lake on my Dad's farm. An hour before the wedding, a freak severe summer storm came up and blew almost everything into the lake - chairs, tables, etc.

I was in a wedding once where the groom’s family tried to talk him out of marrying the bride the night before the wedding. The maid of honor found out and at the reception she confronted the mother of the groom, who promptly decked her, sending her into a table, breaking her leg. The most awesome thing I have ever experienced at a wedding.

Kind of. The senile minister started the ceremony before the bride walked down the aisle. He then used the wrong names and concluded everything with a questionable statement about his qualifications.

I went to a nice one at a fancy church and the priest was a half hour late and the organ player didn't show up at all.

I went to one years ago. The bride and groom are pretty good friends but the wedding was about as boring as watching paint dry. Food was awful, and the portions of food that was actually decent was very little in quantity. Dessert was awful. There was no music or entertainment of any kind. I think the bride’s family didn’t have a lot of money and that was the best they could do but it sucked.

I wasn't there but...

Girl I dated for the first two years of college...
saw her in the paper a couple of years later, wedding photo, full bridal gown, she'd gotten married.

Found out later that the groom had no-showed at the rehearsal dinner. Didn't call. Couldn't find him. Wedding day he called and said that he couldn't go through with it. The newspaper said that it was too late to pull the photo/announcement.

Ceremony at a church. Reception elsewhere. Groom and bride got into an argument in between and never made it to the reception. All guests sat around, eating, waiting for a couple of hours before going home. They never showed
