I'm assuming you mean inner city. Burbs of Hoouston, Katy, and Cypress have great/fantastic schools.

Why some of the schools in Dallas are really good? Obviously some are just as bad, but that's kind of a general statement without looking at a particular school. In fact, most of the people from Houston I went to college with went to public schools.

Yeah that was in the post. Zachary, Mandeville and Dutchtown have good schools too. And you spend 2 hrs per day in traffic

Inner city schools are shite so you send them to private school or move to the burbs.

Grest schools outside of loop in Houston Tomball built new schools 5 years ago and building more and upgrading for 227M.

We are in Cy-fair and neighbors are teachers. With Houston have a ton of people from Louisiana here. They said takes them about a year to get up to speed with tutors

In the city limits or the burbs? Huge difference like everywhere else. If it's not a magnet program or something like that no way I'd send my 10 yr old daughter to HISD

All over. Most probably weren't HISSY, but I know at least one girl that was, and I do think it was a magnet school.

All I'm saying is that I wouldn't put my daughter in a Houston or Dallas public school (again not talking about magnet programs etc). That holds the same for BR, Nola, Shreveport, Chattanooga, Charlotte etc. Having good schools in the burbs isn't what I'm talking about.

Highland Park and University Park are both in Dallas proper as well as some other nice areas.

Possibly so. I'm not intimately familiar with Dallas public schools. I just know plenty of people that live in "Houston" that send their kids to great public schools and they live 45 minutes outside of the city. It's really no different than people living in Mandeville saying they live in Nola. Again, I'm not shitting on Texas. I like Texas. It would be in my top 2-3 states if I leave LA

That's not an accurate overall tax rate. I posted a link on pg 1 that considers all taxes. Granted it's 6 years old but the best I could find.

Yeah but you are talking about the most heavily taxed city in LA.

Just comparing Texas' largest city vs Louisiana's. That's all the data this study has.

If you have done your homework comparing BR vs Houston, and have not missed anything, then that's about as accurate as you can hope for. You have chosen what is representative of your family. However, if your numbers seem to agree with the tax foundation's numbers, it's highly likely that its pure coincidence.

So tax foundation says they are about the same and my personal research came to about the same conclusion but we're both somehow wrong? Car insurance and homeowners are less. I'll give you that.

You've been explained to twice how the tax foundation study has it's flaws and shown a better study, and you're still dieing in the hill that it agreed with your anecdotal experience.

y'all are correct. Wallet Hub has LA at 8.29% and TX at 7.99%

LINK

Forbes at 7.6 and 7.6. But there's a massive difference right? Again the largest difference I can find is $200-300 per 100k

Percentages don't tell the whole thing. Is that really that hard to understand? I'll give you the same example. We both play a 5% rate. Now you have to pay that on every purchase you make, and I only have to pay it when I buy gas and shoes over $100. Do we both pay the same amount of tax?
