But that's anecdotal. These percentages take all taxes into account and the numbers say that they are close if not equal.

I will give you this, I'd imagine that these numbers are a statewide average and not true if you compared Nola to Odessa. Otherwise LA taxes pretty much = TX taxes

y'all are correct. Wallet Hub has LA at 8.29% and TX at 7.99%
Forbes at 7.6 and 7.6. But there's a massive difference right? Again the largest difference I can find is $200-300 per 100k
So one of your sources ranks LA #29 and the other sources ranks LA #45. Yeah, I would say that's a big difference, & thanks for proving my point.

So please provide me with a link that LA is a highly taxed state and much more so than TX. I'll hang up and listen

Moved to Houston from Baton Rouge 4 yrs ago. Mostly everything across the board is cheaper. Home owners insurance, car insurance is 1/2 what it was much better coverage, gas, water, electric, housing construction, house repairs, groceries, gas. I don't get where it's $200-300 year difference. It's well over that per month savings in basic everyday items. Then you factor in higher wages.
I'm considering property tax Vs no state income tax as equal.

Shreveport - "There will be a 6 percent increase in water rates in 2020 and a 4 percent increase in 2022. Sewer rates have gone up every year and they continue for the next four years: 7 percent in 2019, 6 percent in 2020 and 2 percent in both 2021 and 2022."
I won't do the math for you, but Baton Rouge is well below any other municipality that is under a federal lawsuit (both above), and well on par with other similar-sized cities in L
Help me with the math becsuse going up 6% and 4%, etc. doesn't tell me anything unless I know how much they pay right now.

Agreed. I never argued that. Only that the tax rates are about the same.

housing construction
Honestly it's mostly cheaply built houses built by illegals. It's the same in the BR metro. Dr Horton is building trailers on concrete slabs with the garage in the front. Cheap arse houses are common from Denham Springs to The Woodlands

I covered this earlier:
You have proved this by the links that you provided.
I also stated:
I did not make any statements that claimed LA. was one of the highest taxed states. That stat would be useless to me.
What is important is my tax burden relative to my situation and standard of living compared to other individuals with similar standard of living in other states. That information would only be beneficial to me and others in a similar financial arrangement and useless to everyone else. That information cannot be gleaned from these "studies" our politicians like to quote to support their cause, regardless if its from a non-profit organization.

All studies have there shortcomings because its so difficult to compare apples to apples due to individual/convoluted state tax structures.
You have proved this by the links that you provided.

If you have done your homework comparing BR vs Houston, and have not missed anything, then that's about as accurate as you can hope for. You have chosen what is representative of your family
