Which was the point of the project in the first place. It was never about making it better.

At the 2:08 mark of the video you see five guys standing with their hands on their hips while four work.

And you wonder why it took so long

Biggest waste of manpower ever is any city/government job.

Yeah 12 inches in a couple hours is just "a little bit heavier than average."

The street was covered in water with catch basins seemingly backed up. Travelers had no option but to make their way across the street in ankle deep water.

They are really trying to make something out of nothing. Oh my god ankle deep water for a little bit. It absolutely dumped for about 15-20 minutes, ask anyone who rode in Endymion if it was coming down. You can see the trash not letting the water go down.

Yeah mainly mid city. We were trying to go to liuzzas but it was flooded. Tried to make it over to parkway, but couldn't get through the water. Ended up at Mr Ed's on Carrollton because it was the only part of the area that was under water.

Didn't come down until a couple hours in, didn't it?

Yeah you can see the trash piled up blocking the drains

It's not the renovation's fault, it's whoever decided to not clean the drains until later.

Project ended up costing double the original estimate and for only marginal improvements? Sounds like New Orleans is becoming less crooked every day. Now there is actually small improvements when they pocket your money.

From the comments and video title you would think the street had knee high water. The whole street isn't even flooded deepest (which is not deep) areas were where the water backed up from the blocked drains.

You know how I know you haven't seen it yet? It's fricking night and day when you go from the new part to the old part. If you watch the video, the only drain you can see is completely blocked by trash. Drains don't work if they're blocked.

don't forget that the early 1900 underground drawings weren't as accurate as first thought so the excavation basically turned into a paleontology dig because they didn't know when they would hit a pipe or conduit. compound that with other surprises like the 93,000 lbs. of mardi gras beads they found so far, and I'm surprised it's just doubled so far. just be glad they are fixing the sewage lines connected to drainage.

Pretty much. It was a cluster frick. The part they've redone looks amazing though. The new barriers are really cool.

My personal recommendation would be to build your next city above sea level. That’s just me tho. You do you, son

I can’t see the video because that fricking ad pops up and freezes my screen. That shuts so aggravating.

Pretty much this

Doesn't seem like bad flooding in video and drains clearly have trash in them.
