I think this kid here is an interesting prospect. will probably be there for our 3rd round pick.
Hercules Mata’afa/DE/Washington State/6'2"/245lbs
NFLDraftScout's Rob Rang writes that Washington State DL Hercules Mata'afa will need to impress with his run times at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Mata'afa was one of the most impressive pass-rushers in the FBS last year, but there have been concerns about what type of player he'll be at the next level. He's built like a defensive end (6'2/252), but his strongest skill set in college was his ability to rush as defensive tackle. "Mata’afa will impress in the bench press and measure in around 245 to 250 pounds, but questions about his fit at the next level will only escalate if he runs more like a defensive tackle than linebacker," Rang writes. How he tests will be one of the bigger story lines to watch for in Indianapolis at the end of the month. Feb 19 - 3:05 PM

I thought that was funny when I read it too. We will have to ask whoever wrote the NFL scouting report.

Thanks for the work meat
For me the Saints will be able to apply the best player available this draft more than in several years. That's a good thing when the needs do not stick out so sorely.
My second big thought on this year is that the mocks are even less relevant until after free agency. There are some huge FA names that will define much of the draft directions.
My early take is one more play making defensive player. We saw the huge step last year. I want more young defensive guys. I'm hoping the D will be headed towards being able to lead the team when Brees hang it up. Who that is I'm not too opinionated on yet. Another edge rusher or a sideline to sideline LB prolly what I'd like to see most.

I agree on all of this!!
Here's my guy though. If we could somehow land him look out!

@HerbieTeope
South Dakota TE Dallas Goedert tells me he had nine formal interviews at the Combine so far, one was with the Saints.

DJ Chark just became a possible target at pick 27

Yeah he just Put himself ahead of Kirk and in to the first round probably. I would not object to drafting him at 27 at all. Dude would be lethal in our offense.

I just hate how he catches the football with his body, but Devery did that too and he was useful as a downfield burner.

Curtis Johnson will take care of that like he did with Devery

This kind of stuff always kills me looking at some of these guys' shitty analysis:
So is he quick or lagging behind a bit? fricking amateurs.
Edit:
And now I see this was brought up already. Glad I wasn't alone in noticing this bullshite.

I'll be honest, I don't know jack about this class. First time I've literally looked into no one by this point. Kids really slow you down, especially 3 girls.
I imagine as we get closer I'll star looking into the guys mocked to us, and Baker in case that thing does happen.
Who's your early favorite Meat?

Dallas Goedert (GoGurt) I already nicknamed him
Kid has such strong talent. He boxes defenders out and catches the ball one handed with defenders draped on him. We can get from him what we were looking to get from a return of Jimmy. Kid is gonna be a star in this league and really hope its while hes wearing Black N' Gold.
We are in desperate need of a player to convert third downs and a redzone target and this kid could be both!
Go to this link and click through the plays gif. Hes unreal... LINK

I still think Vander Esch will be the BPA pick unless a guy like Moore, Payne or Landry fall. Vander Esch will be the next Kuechly. Him and Davis and Anzalone would be deadly. We would lock mother frickers down
Cam, Okafor and Rankins eating up blocks while Davis, Anzalone and Vander Esch just roam and kill ball carriers. Our secondary would be bar none as well.

Vander Esch's combine was stupid good. Wouldn't mind him if Goedert and Taven are gone.

That's funny on Evans assessment it says
Strengths- quick to diagnose
Weakness- a tad behind to diagnose

I can’t imagine this team giving up much to get to Mayfield. I can’t see us drafting him , regardless. This is a win it all year.

Yeah I saw that.
Well with the signing of Ben I think it may have pushed TE down a little in the "must" column that Sean said in his interview. He said TE, WR and Edge were "must" so looking at who will be available at 27 the edge rushers there are lackluster so it seems there's only one direction to go.
